I'm assuming you're referring to just T20I cricket?
I was interested to see if your comment had any substance so I took a look at his batting T20 batting career summary and batting innings list. Whilst I'd have to go through each individual match and series of his batting innings list to work out which games are a dead rubber some of his numbers in the third and forth matches of a T20 series (when dead rubbers are obviously most likely to occur) are better, albeit in a small sample size than his overall career numbers.
His strike rate is lower in those third and forth matches but his combined average in them is better (keeping in mind again the smaller sample size).

As for his ODI record, this shows he's been very consistent across a series, his average and strike rates are similar while he has scored seven hundreds and eight half centuries combined in the first and second match of a series and five and nine in the third and forth matches of a series.

I'm not trying to defend him or say he hasn't been out of form and not been inconsistent of late, I'm just looking at what the numbers suggest. I think it's reasonable to suggest he could be a 'king of a dead rubber' in T20I cricket but probably not in ODI cricket looking at the breakdown of his numbers.

This has to be the worst T20 bowling line up we have put on the park for years, if not for ever.

An expensive attack today, in particular Behrendorff and Swepson as the Windies post 8/199.
Zampa and Marsh with good figures again.

Did well to restrict them to under 200, at one stage they looked like getting 230-240

And a 4-1 victory to the Windies, they have smoked us.

Marsh and Zampa have been the stand outs and Hazlewood was solid for the Aussies while there are question marks on whether or not others are up to international standard with the bat- Philippe, McDermott, Turner plus Carey struggled while Finch, Wade and Henriques were ok but couldn't really get going. With the ball the Windies constantly put the bowlers under pressure and Behrendorff, Christian and Meredith copped the brunt of it.

Onto the ODIs now starting Wednesday where I expect us to perform better but the squad doesn't change so won't be surprised to see the Aussies continuing to find it tough.

Besides Mitch Marsh, were there any pass marks for the series?

Yes, Zampa and Hazlewood for me.

Zampa: 0/23(3), 0/36(4), 0/34(3), 2/20(4), 2/30(4).
Hazlewood: 3/12(4), 1/39(4), 0/33(3), 0/32(4).

Pretty slim pickings besides Mitch.

Moises, Wade and Finch all showed glimpses but nothing to give us hope for the future.

I'm looking forward to see how we line up for the ODI's, our squad looks very ordinary, I can't believe that we have no room for the GOAT in there, I think he's pretty tidy in the middle version game.

Is Warner allowed to play? Are we allowed to play our best XI?

I was looking at the overall bowling stats while reviewing who else did ok and both Zampa and Hazlewoods economy's were ok (Hazlewood obviously helped largely by his performance in game one).

In regards to Lyon I feel like Australian Cricket
will look back once he's retired and think why didn't they play him more in ODI cricket(He's played 29 matches in just over 9 years)
I feel as though he could of been part of a solid partnership with Zampa over recent years being a classic leggie/offie combination.

Warner was amongst the group of players who chose to miss the West Indies tour after playing in the IPL.

Meanwhile Alex Carey has been named as Australia's captain ahead of the ODI series against the Windies starting tomorrow morning (4.00am). Aaron Finch reaggravated a right knee injury in the Fifth T20I and has been ruled out of the first ODI. Carey becomes Australia's 26th ODI captain.

Australia finished 9/252. Were 4/218 and cruising, Walsh took next five wickets as we lost 5/34

Three debutants - Phillipe, Mcdermott and Wes Agar.

Felt like the rain delay stopped our momentum, and then after the break Carey just couldn't get going.

He should've put away that stupid lap shot and just looked to play conventionally.
