I could also put this under Things I don't Understand

People are protesting in Sydney and Melbourne about lockdowns, with face masks on.

Great to see the protests around the country today, warms my heart and provides some light at the end of the tunnel.

We have no hope of achieving herd immunity because of our draconian lockdowns.
Sydney is the only state that has some hope of getting there. They are still showing the way forward, they may as well drop their restrictions and stop getting tested and counting cases.

That is the most ridiculous restriction. Even SA doesnt have a travel restriction

This allows spread to occur to those who are vulnerable and some may die as a consequence.

OK it is probably a little rare, and seen as something of a long shot - but it can happen, and then escalate rapidly.
So, until we have the vulnerable vaccinated, and a high percentage of potential symptomless carriers too, we have to be careful.

Ignoring even that smaller risk to the vulnerable is at least negligent and selfish, and at worst callous - or if deliberate even murderous...

What are we waiting for?
Most other western countries have a high % of vaccination already.
Why can’t the government roll this out quicker if that’s the answer?

The problem was that we aimed to get first a vaccine we could make here, and then tried to buy alternatives from overseas as well to increase our supply in the early stages, selecting the ones that stacked up best in trials at the time. Then Belgium and some other countries where those extras were being made blocked the companies making them from exporting the vaccine to us until they had enough at home...

The second issue is that the one we can make here does have a small risk of adverse reactions in younger people, and that has given ammunition to the anti-vaxxer movement, such that suggesting we use the one we do have a plentiful supply of on younger people has triggered a hysterical over-reaction. Even the young have much less risk from a bad reaction to the AZ vaccine than they do from catching Covid - especially the newer strains.

There is no antivaxxer movement and your lack of understanding makes me question your ability to practice medicine.
I have had all the vaccines required through my life except the flu vax as i have never had the flu, i prefer to use my immune system.
It is a pro choice movement, i would like to have all the facts and safety data presented to me and make my own choice. As that is currently not available i wont be taking it.
Any workplace trying to enforce it i would love to see their risk assessment, it wouldnt pass at all.
You are using your position to mislead people on here. The fact you wouldnt sign anything taking responsibility should anything adverse happen tells me all i need to know, You dont genuinely believe its safe but youre pushing the government and big pharma stance.
Any update on producing the warnings that come in the package with the vax, im assuming it has a MSDS?

What i have seen on social media over the last couple days proves the government is winning over the sheep, I have seen many post urging to people to get the vax so that we can get out of the lockdown, This is exactly what they are trying to do, they are trying to break you down so that you have no will left to resist and you comply, From that moment on your screwed. If you let the government take away your freedoms in emergency situations they will always create an emergency situation to strip you of your rights.
You can take it to the bank that you will regret your decision to vaccinate.

There wouldn't be too many people who'd argue that Sydney are showing the way forward at the moment.

who cares about cases, did you count the flu cases back in 2019, did you count the deaths?
Its exactly what we need, we need thousands of cases a day otherwise we will continue to be put in and out of lockdown everytime there is a case ffs

Do the people protesting today just expect the authorities to lift all restrictions? I mean, how stupid would you need to be to do the very thing that will ensure what you're protesting to go on for longer, most likely with more restrictions? Quite stupid.

I guess some of the citizens are starting to wake up

Most have had enough how long can governments keep referring to this years Flu as Covid 19 to keep the FEAR going.

If you wanna watch some heavy protests watch around midnight tune in to Ruptly News apparently all of France will be protesting.
