Talk on the national game

Sounds like Curnow will be back for the blues this week - pretty much because we have a genuine lack of other options.

The outs (in position) for us are;

F: Betts, McKay, N/A
HF: McGovern, Casboult, Gibbons
C: Cuningham, Setterfield, N/A
HB: Williams, Marchbank, Docherty
B: N/A, N/A, N/A

R: Pittonet, N/A, N/A

We have a better team on the bench than on the field (almost)

Would not be surprised to see him go around again

Small forward stocks are pathetically thin
Dave Warner will be missed!

I think this will depend on if we have a new coach or not. New coach - sweep the floor clean and get rid of old stock. Same coach - possibly not. It would depend on whether there is a small forward int the draft or not for mine.

Feel for Teague a bit. Seems like a decent enough sort of bloke but appears totally out of his depth. The media are circling like sharks and there's is blood in the water. Carlton win a couple and it's on to Simpson's back as West Coast are the shittruck of the week but one loss and it's all systems go on Carlton again. What a pack of wankers the footy media are.

Interesting that Curnow is starting his comeback. Him and McKay in the same forward like would be exciting. Forwards aren't there problem though.

How would the irony be if we get flogged this week and Teague got the flick - against the Ratten lead Saints?

Surely not, they'd be expected to lose this week anyway.

Who has been the worst coach of the modern era? The dude with the permanent band aid on his nose springs to mind, didn't he take a half decent Bulldogs outfit and turned them into a pathetic existence and then hand them to Beverage who took them to finals and then a premiership within 2 years?

Brendan Bolton is another that oozes uselessness, got a 5-0 record at Hawthorn when he was a caretaker coach and made an absolute mess of the Blues.

Mark Neeld would have to be right up there.

Prior to last weekends disaster Carlton had won 3/4 and apparently the coach has lost the players?

He was so crap I forgot who he even coached, he recorded 5 wins from 33 outings and 3 of those wins were against GWS in their foundation years, one was against the Gold Coast and another against Essendon.

Since when has that stopped the media from circling?

Bolton wasn't the worst coach - in fact like Teague we'll never know. Malthouse stuffed us up more than most think.

I really don't think you become senior coach because you can't coach - I think it's got a lot to do with what you take over and your ability to influence and have good assistant coaches around you.

Yeah, I think it's been a bit harsh, as Armchair said, they'd won 3 out of their last 4.

The Malthouse experiment was instrumental in why you are where you are, Ratten wasn't setting the world on fire but he took over a trainwreck that had won 43 of their previous 150 games, Malthouse was a selfish prick who coached for himself, he tried to be bigger than the club and the game.

I think you can get carried somewhat as an assistant and then fall to pieces at the helm, it makes you wonder why Voss can't get another gig?

A mate that played in Port's initial team said he learnt more off of Chocco than he did Jack, Chocco did most of the talking during breaks and was a lot more personal with the players, it doesn't surprise me that success seems to be where he's working behind the scenes.

I must admit I took the $5 about the Saints at halftime.
