Just so bloody stupid to do

One would presume (although one should not) that the Texan may have had a sherbet or 2

Robbie Young and the North players did not hear what was said.

Think he may be in a bit of trouble

Dear me, I really hope that isn't the case.

Came from very reliable source who was there. Will no doubt come out today as will need to face media, was crucified on Footy Classified last night.

The Crows played WCE the following day so they were not drinking, although most of the players were there watching.

7 news saying he admits fault and will apologise and accept any penalty.

Been thinking about this more.

If you were a spectator at an AFL game and unquestionable without doubt your were busted saying there pushing for a life ban at very least a really significant punishment...…..yeah. The AFL has been strong on this.

Tell me why a player should get less than a spectator.

Im a huge Tex fan, I respect his leadership of the Crows through their toughest period.

I still cant come up with a logical reason a player should get less than what a club or the AFL would try and ban a spectator who did this for.

Happy to take 1 reason tbh.

I was going to say 'sadly' but I don't think that is the right word if the accusations are true but Tex might feel the wrath of being a real scapegoat of the AFL public viewing stance against racism.

Does anyoneelse think the AFL might find Tex the perfect person to set a high standard on given the Crows are battling, his not the 'superstar' he once was, likely to only go on for one year more anyway.

If he gets 5 week or even 7 or 8 weeks what does that say to the aboriginal community...….

How can the AFL move forward and threaten life bans to spectators if players have 'somewhat' of an exemption.

This all on the back of the BLM protests etc.

I think the perfect storm has been created in Tex's world.

Education > Punishment.

What Tex allegedly did was dumb, and no doubt he's apologetic.. but life ban? Let him get out and do some community work, let him advocate for Aboriginal rights/needs, make him earn back some respect. Banning achieves little IMO.

Despite always seeming a bit of a twat, he's been a good leader for Adelaide, and he's often been there when someone in the club has needed support i.e. Eddie Betts. It's clear he's not the sharpest tool in the shed though, and whilst the alleged comments are never on I cant help but feel like his intentions would've been more about trying to motivate/fire up his team mate than put down/abuse/belittle Young.

I'm sure we can find a better outcome than banning the bloke at the end of his career.

Other racist outbursts in the AFL have been people directly targeting and attacking individuals.

Trying to make out the crows as the victim in this is just so typical.

I trust your judgement on this one. Do you think though the way the AFL respond here will almost set a precedent on how they have to respond to spectators, key board warriors who do the same thing or do you believe there is a point in difference. If not do you believe the AFL should necessarily ban fans who make racist remarks but try and educate them through the journey.

Also does a professional sportsmen over the age of 30 who has been the AFL system with all its education have any more that he can be taught that he 'shouldn't already know'. I liked Tex and he doesn't come across as the brightest spark but surely he 'knew' better.

Will be interesting to know just when the club found out. If they've been sitting on it for 2 weeks thats pretty ordinary as well. Since it broke still no word from the clubs social pages or members e-mail, only posts are about the debutant this week. So much for the off field transparency.

Tell the world one of your players is accused of a racist comment before proven? Great idea.

It's irrelevant now he's clearly said it, see what happens

I never said that. If it came from a staffer as reported its going to be a pretty quick trial isn't it, either he said it or he didn't. So did they know on the day or did it take 2 weeks to get to someone at the club? Surely saying something is better that it leak in the media and now your going to get accused of a cover up again. Even if its the generic we're aware of reports response.
