Pristine image did that at strath one day over the 760m..
Didn't fall but missed the start by 15L
Yeah pretty sure pristine litenin used to do the same every start @ APK
Was always last at the 700mtr boxes on the 2nd lap but would win in a canter.

To the greyhound enthusiasts on this thread
How does the current grading system work at AP/MB/GAW ?

Maiden
G6
G5
G4
G3
G2
G1
OPEN

Is this the current grading system ?
I will assume that as dogs win they always go up in grade

My question is how the downgrade works ?
Dogs can not go back to a maiden- thats a given
Can they drop from a grade 5 to a grade 6 ?
If so what is the criteria involved in a downgrade- is it x amount of loses in a row , or placings in a row or both ?

Grades are maiden, 6,5,4,3,2,1
Maidens obviously haven’t won a race before
Grade 6 is where most dogs lie, if they are sa bred they can win up to 12 grade 6s. Interstate dogs have a limited number to win.
Once a dog is grade 5 it can not move back to grade 6.
If it moves up to grade 4, it takes 3 unplaced runs to move back down a grade.

To make things more confusing
Each track and distance can have a dog in different grades, as well as cityA,B, prov1 and prov2 meetings

Aston Whitney been racing in G5 and back to a Grade 6 today??

I know in WA I love it when Where's the Girl goes back to G6 after 3 outs.

Electric Dreams running shortly at Gardens from box 8.
5 maserati looks unbeatable. We should run 2nd

Yep and (I think) if you are nominated already they will still accept (if you win the preceding race)

No trial videos
Although I've been strongly pushing for them for last 2yrs or so. Or atleast a record of what dog has trialled where, when etc.

Yeah trial videos are non existent.
Satisfactory times and margins are publicised, but solo trials are not (angle park do publish trial times, but only linked to a trial number, not a specific dog/trainer)

Im my opinion
Greyhound trials are a better guide than the Harness and Thoroughbred trials
Horse trials have drivers and jockeys , often nursing the runners
Greyhounds dont know that, they see the lure and are in whoosh mode

I used to go to most trails at AP and occasionally GAW last century
Petrol prices make it hard these days , and its impracticable to drive to MB to see trials

Greyhound trial form is important when betting in maiden races and lower graded races

MT79
I think you should give up work, attend all trails, video them , and send them to me , then I can attempt to Wade in wealth

Only trainer in Australia to be prosecuted for having a bet in a race that was not on his dog.
