Well handled by the AFC and AFL, the only way forward out of this is for some learnings and education to continue, but geez it must be gut wrenching.

Im not convinced its been well handled by the AFL, its meant to be confidential, They have no trouble keeping drug users names private so how does this get out?
There is a lot of collateral damage from this.
We didnt heed all the details, just the pinishment and what he was punished for. Just a statement saying Walker has been suspended for racial vilification, was absolutely no need to even make North Adel or Young aware that it stemmed from them. No need to tell anyone he was dobbed in by an Adel official, These people dont need the scrutiny

How does it possibly remain confidential? If tex missed 6 weeks and they lied about the reason you would be up in arms.

Yep and there is a fair chance the leak didn’t come from the AFL rather from someone within the Crows looking for 15 minutes of fame

Plus how would the indigenous playing group feel if they ‘covered’ and hid the truth for Tex.

I never said to lie about the reason, we just dont need details, the innocent parties didnt need to be dragged into it.
It should remain confidential because thats what is meant to happen.
I do wonder who leaked it to the media. Was it the AFL, the staffer, was it someone at North Adel, was it Young or as someone else suggested was it Eddie Betts.
See what i mean about the innocent people being dragged into it from all sorts of angles?
Tex Walker has been suspended for 6 weeks for racial vilification, to protect the innocent parties the details will remain confidential. Thats all that needed to be said.

Media would dig and media would find out.

Wouldn't surprise me if AFL deliberately leaked it to softly release the issue to the public, timeframes seem to fit nicely.

What are peoples thoughts on Walkers public silence. His getting a bit of a hammering from the media about this now. Obviously they want the story so have a invested interested.

I don't think its a big deal, the real conversations should now be happening in private with the Crows players, staff, management.

What would him coming out and reading a media specialist written script really do other than be another angle for people to slam him. Potential it would be good for our kids to see him come out and publicly condemn his own comments but that's about it really. Its kind of one of those things that's done because that's the done thing.

The next we will be hearing from Tex will be him announcing his retirement from AFL effectively immediately.

Guessing Crows might give Tex 2 options

1. Sacked
2. Retire on your terms

No sugar coating this and a massive move forward to say racism isn't needed or wanted.

You would think so hey. Wouldn't think Tex has a leg to stand on to say the club hasn't provided him with enough training on the issue etc.

Not much of a fan of Kornes but he is right about Tex's silence on the issue. He should have fronted the media and said his piece, that way he can play on next season and be remembered as a guy who learnt from a mistake rather than just fading away under a cloud. Reckon that could haunt you for long after you've finished.

No doubt Robbie and both Adel and North playing groups needed a personal apology first. I understand he's done that. He will front eventually, there is nothing to gain from seeing Tex behind the mics there getting smashed while he's bawling his eyes out right now. And before anyone says it, I have no sympathy for him but there is nothing to gain from seeing it.

Absolutely agree.

There is probably people he still wants to reach out to first before going public. I'm sure some people didn't want to talk to him immediately.

If that's the case then why aren't clubs sacking players for DUI, domestic assaults, drug strikes etc.

Apparently Robbie Young was in tears after Saturday's game, was a pretty taxing week for him emotionally.

Its car crash TV when the media gaggle line up at his press conference hoping he'll crack and bawl his eyes out.
Not for me thanks.
He'll come out and speak eventually.
I hope he plays on next year as an example of..hey I f*"*d up, sorry I said what I did but I'll make up for it any way I can.
We all know he's not the sharpest tool in the shed and clearly said with anger, so Young must've done something to trigger that kind of outburst.
Smash the c*"t sounds like he's belted a young crow and Tex's lost it.
I'm clutching at straws, I know, but it just seems it was said in anger.
It isn't right, I accept that, but we all have said something in the heat of the moment and regretted it later.
It shouldn't be career ending is what I'm getting at.
