So if Port earn the right to host a final next week will the AFL let them host it with 15k or send it to Perth where they could get triple that figure?

Will be here.
Teams eligible to host can nominate their venue from a list. Adelaide, Brisbane and Tasmania in week 1

Better for who?

I got slammed on Port's FB page for suggesting that he has less output than SPP and we don't really need another player of his ilk, some dude went ape droppings at me, I don't usually have stoush's on FB but he got the better of me on this occasion and I had to pull out the big insults.

Aided by bags of 3 and 4 when we've flogged sides, does nothing against quality opposition, I think we have enough of them types.

I was excited about getting him over despite being a tampon player, he hasn't lived up to the hype for me yet, he had some ripper games for you guys, he definitely has the talent.

He's only gone goalless once this year lol - against the Lions when Port were pumped.

Kicked multiple goals in 8/13 matches.

How hard is it to kick a goal when you sit in a pocket all game? I reckon even I would still.

He's played in 3 losing games this season with returns of 11, 7 and 6 disposals, admittedly he kicked two goals in two of them matches but when we have the likes of Gray, Georgiaidis, Rozee, Motlop and SPP playing similar roles I think he is behind all of them atm.

I would play him ahead of Marshall though.

There's some surprising conversion rates amongst our forward line.

Dixon 46.22
Georgie 32.16
Fanta 24.21
Marshall 22.7
Rozee 19.12
Gray 17.5
Amon 11.15

Ports form line is building nicely at the right time of the year.
Managed the rope a dope brilliantly.
Withstood the pressure, then went bang when I counted.
Ports premiership to lose imo.

Friday night football is often the biggest ticket of the week and when there’s a top 2 spot on offer in the final round of the year there’s no bigger stage.
One thing Port Adelaide has failed to do this year is stand up on that big stage, that was until Friday night against the Bulldogs where Port Adelaide took until the final stages of the last quarter to take the lead and ultimately hold on by 2 points to secure 2nd spot on the AFL ladder and 2 home finals.

The start was anything but what Port fans on the couch at home wanted, the Dogs kicked the first 4 goals of the game and more worryingly moved the ball from their back half through Port Adelaide’s defence to score with ease. A Connor Rozee goal in the 23rd minute of the term Port’s only major and while the Dogs were 15 points up it felt like Port had enough opportunities to be closer. It stayed that way.

Coaches around the competition note that Ken Hinkley is a sound game day tactician and this came to the fore on Friday night. After quarter time we held the Dogs to 3 scoring shots and, more tellingly, stopped their transition from defence to attack while having 5 scoring shots ourselves. 5 points though. Despite the quarter time deficit I had optimism but the second term had me thinking we had fired our shot and it wasn’t enough. Again, it stayed that way.

The third term opened up as both sides knew there’s enough on the line to take the game on and Port certainly did that early. Gray, in a sign of things to come, Ladhams from a long shot on the angle and Rozee with his second helped Port get back on even keel with 3 goals in the first 8 minutes of the term. In the blink of an eye Weightman, English and Vandermeer responded with Dogs majors and the lead was back out to 18 points. Another twist as Boak goaled, Ladhams kicked his second and it’s back to under a goal. This one is doing my head in. Hunter kicks one late for the Dogs and the 11 point ¾ time margin seemed like it was neither here, nor there.

Momentum was with Port Adelaide, for ¾’s it had been in the game with weight of possession ( 60 more touches for the night – 54 of them uncontested ) and scoring shots ( 16 to 12 at the final break ) and if not for the Dogs stunning bursts of 4 goals in the first and 3 in the third Port had the better of general play.

This one was going down to the wire. For Port Rozee was threatening to break the game open, Boak kept at it as he always does, Wines was continuing his bullocking best form, Jonas was doing captain things behind the ball, Lycett was winning the ball in the middle and Gray was there or thereabouts without having a major influence on the contest. A heavy lockdown on Bontempeilli was quelling his influence but you cant stop them all, Bailey Smith, Treloar, Macrae, Hunter and Daniel were keeping the Dogs in it but without the midfield scoring as they did in the earlier play they looked like they would struggle to score….then, Treloar goaled at the 10 minute mark of the last term and the weight of possession, winning the territory battle and holding the Dogs forwards out of the game felt like it was all undone by one goal. The 15 point lead had Port fans thinking we’d again been blinded by the bright lights. Enter the best we have to offer.

Ollie Wines collects a loose ball and checksides a goal not normally in his kit bag, 3 minutes later Travis Boak goals to bring the game back under a kick and who else should be there to take the lead but last goal of the game specialist R.Gray. The lead up to the Gray goal was telling, 6 Port players streaming unattended though the half forward line and Gray is picked out 30m from goal on a slight angle and we all knew the result. GOAL!!!
But, it wasn’t over, the Dogs needed just a kick to take the top 2 spot from Port and with the defence in disarray after a clearing kick returned back deep in defence it was young forward Todd Marshall on the last line of defence punching away from Bulldogs star Naughton to ice the game for Port Adelaide. You. Bloody. Beauty!

Our second top 2 finish in a row, our second chance to win two home finals and head to the Grand Final in a row. Opportunities like this don’t come along all the time.

Boon’s best – Boak, Wines, Gray, Rozee, Jonas, Lycett

Changes – Terrible timing for Georgiades, his hamstring may well rule him out for the year and that would be cruel but with heartbreak comes opportunity and the likes of Marshall and Ladhams have the chance to make a mark on September 2021. I think Fantasia comes back in for the Friday night clash with the Cats.
