He said Optus Stadium had been chosen ahead of Adelaide Oval as the Grand Final back-up because of the 100 per cent capacity currently available in Western Australia, compared to the restricted capacity in South Australia.

We have no cases, and yet due to other states problems we continue to play safe - and this is the outcome. It's a little sad for SA to be honest.

AFL just FOS as usual.
So please tell me why 2 finals are being played in a little country village at a tiny ground with 10k capacity

Because tickets aren't $200-$400 each and there's not as strict a quarantine.

We have Miss dodge the ball FFS, absolute no chance of it being in SA.

The AFL would rather take there chances with McLown and his crazy requests than attempt to do business here with Miss Dodge the ball.

It's funny reading all the comments from the nuffies on the Port fan page, even my brother thinks it's a conspiracy against Port Adelaide and the GF was never going to be played in Adelaide.

The SA government are the reason it won't be held here, the AFL would've taken 52K at Adelaide Oval instead of the 60K they'll get at Optus Stadium, having Telstra a major partner would've helped SA's cause too, we just weren't going to budge on a capacity.

SA should've suggested that the AFL still maintain the bye round the week before the GF and tickets to be sold on the Sunday/Monday after the preliminary finals then anyone with a ticket needed to isolate for the 12 days prior, not perfect or ideal but placing a 30K cap this far out gave us no chance, I'm sure the PAFC would've pleaded with them for a golden opportunity of a premiership.

Oh yeah I totally agree with you. 52k at AO would have done it. The SA Gov just left the AFL with no choice but to go to WA.

Just looking at that you'd be happy that the midfielders won't be taking up the forward positions, possibly the other way around, you could just about argue that there are 8 shoe-ins just in the forwards list.

Isn't that because Geelong don't have anyone on their list below 30?

Just when you think the selectors couldn’t stuff it up any more………

Really is a joke and is more about shoehorning as many mids as they can into the side

What are you not liking or agreeing with (besides Stringer)?

I think the team looks more realistic than previous years.

At the end of the day the mids should get morphed in where practical, they still rotate through the forward line.

I don't disagree with you, I'm keen to see who you'd select.

Backs are pretty spot on, probably Dale a tad lucky. Play some actual wingers, Merrett has never played there in his life so possibly Amon or McCluggage on a wing. Pick your 6-8 best mids only and maybe 1 or 2 on bench otherwise bad luck. Macrae misses for me, move Merrett to on ball and Amon/McCluggage to a wing. Papley and Stringer much of a much so one on the bench and Parish or NicNat to miss

McRae absolutely has to be there imho, but probably should have been selected on the wing.

Positions should be filled by those who actually play them.. what’s the incentive for a kid on a wing or forward pocket to have a great year knowing he’ll never be an AA coz some big name mid will take his spot.

Could AA work like Rising Star - each round nominate a group of people to a position for outstanding performance? Then end of year pick a side from the group for each line?

In - Darcy, McLuggage
Out - Naitanui, Parish

Merrett to bench, McLuggage to wing.

Do they traditional Peter Matera-like wingmen anymore or is it more of a rolling/rotational position?
