The AFL love to talk the talk but when push comes to shove they turn to water.

In both cases regarding racism and umpire treatment they could have made a really strong stance but took a very soft option. Two incidents in which whilst mistakes both were mistakes that the players have known was wrong since day dot.

Yeah around what I expected. GWS to appeal and get downgraded to 2 so he is eligible for the GF if they make it.

Wet lettuce I reckon. What sort of example is that for community footy.
As bad as they can be at times, they shouldn't have to put up with that shit.
I would've had him miss a couple next year.

It sends a stronger message than some of the more recent cases where players have deliberately made contact with an umpire. e.g. Lachie Neale was fined. Do you really think the penalties they hand down at AFL level impact on behaviour at community and junior footy? If they fined Toby Greene like they fined Lachie Neale do you think it would have led to increased incidents with umpires in community and junior footy. I don't. As an example, the Adelaide Football League set their own agenda for on field violence and respect of umpires. If you misbehave you are not only suspended, but ultimately you could be deregisterred. Toby did the wrong thing and got 3 weeks, which I think is about right. Lachlie Neale was lucky.

Typically I hate the "Best players missing finals" rubbish, but, in this instance, 3 hurts as much as 6 for him and his club so he's copped a whack and I reckon it's on the money.

Amazing it’s crazy how Toby Greene has incredible spatial awareness, peripheral vision and ability to sum up angles until it comes to avoiding someone wearing high vis in broad daylight

Yes and from the youngest possible age.
Junior asks," why isn't so and so playing?"
" Because he made intentional contact with an umpire and he got 6 weeks for doing it"
Junior will get the message....even though Toby hasn't.
