Agreed, genuinely for @Booney's sake I hope Port get up.

One of the better blokes on this site, hard to believe someone with that type of character barracks for Port. Challenges all my sense and understanding of the world ;)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Nah **** him....I hope Port win this week by 100+ and then lose the Grand Final to a Dangerfield kick after the siren that after the game shows skimmed the goal post but was missed on the review system :D :D :D ;)

Trust.

I’ve used this word a lot when talking about this Port Adelaide side, this group, and that trust has been built up and has been earnt over the last 2 years.
In 2020 we took (almost) all before us, sat at the top of the table all year, lost to the sides around us and won all the games we were meant to win. We won the first home final. We pushed the premiers to within a kick the week before the Grand Final.
So too in 2021. Against the top 4 we struggled all year but they’re hard to beat for a reason, the top 4 are the best sides in the competition and we know our record against those below us and it couldn’t be better. We won the first home final.
That expectation, that trust, that this side will show up when they are meant to show up had never run deeper. It felt like this group could be trusted and that’s why last night hurts so much.
The first 15 minutes were hard to watch, the next 85 didn’t get any better. The manner in which we were dismantled was unnerving. Our very strengths that had earned that trust over the last 2 years were shredded. At quarter time we were -23 for contested possessions and 6 goals down, our season effectively killed off in 15 minutes of football. 2 years to build the trust up, 15 minutes to torch it.

Credit where it’s due to the Bulldogs, their midfield is one of the best 2 in the game and they rightly get the chance to take on the other, Melbourne, in two weeks. Injuries and travel aside for the Dogs, if it weren’t for Melbourne’s after the siren win in round 23 and Port’s 2 point win over them they would have finished the season on top of the ladder. Brisbane scamper a point with 20 seconds to go in their round 23 win and the Dogs go from top to 5th. Their season shouldn’t be underrated and they touch down in Perth every chance of beating Melbourne. We may have been rolled by the best side of 2021. We’ll find out in two weeks.

It’s been a pretty hollow day and it will hurt for a while. There’ll be the supporters calling for sweeping change and they have every right to do so, they say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result and football clubs are no different. Change must come. You don’t evolve without changing. If the coach is one of those things that must change then that’s the decision our executive has to make.
The list will inevitably change, it always does and with Rockliff retiring, Hartlett and Motlop out of contract and several fringe players perhaps looking for opportunity we’ll see change there too.
Much like the playing group that executive has earnt some trust, coaching staff, list management, major sponsors, pre-COVID turning the books in the right direction, fan engagement, game day, we get a lot right off field and for two years we’ve got a lot right on field but not last night. Last night really stings. It stings because trust was broken.

I’ll be back supporting at games, buying memberships, backing my club in ‘22 and ’23 and ’24 and every bloody year after....

I can’t see Port having the funds to pay Ken out and with Clarko having a year on holidays funded by the Hawks do Port keep Ken for another year and go all in on Clarko?
I guess it depends on how much the AFL will offer to him to take on the Suns or Giants job but would imagine he could name his price with several clubs after him

Money very well spent if they did that

Very sad for Boak and Gray who have given everything to the club over their careers that will end without a premiership if Hinkley sees out his contract.

AFL wont allow them to pay him out, even if it is only 6 months.

They are still a welfare club controlled by the AFL. 6 months is still probably 300k or more?
In COVID times I’d be surprised if the AFL approved it
