My mother is 70 but doesn't want to get the vaccine. She's staunch about it and has even threatened to stop speaking to one sister who is constantly pressuring her to get the jab. Aside from us not having Covid in SA which I don't think really comes into her thinking but she doesn't want chemicals she doesn't feel comfortable about in her system. She accepts she will probably have to get it at some point but trying to delay it as long as possible. I think it might also be fear of getting the Covid test with the big cotton bud up the nose.

Personally I haven't had the jab yet because I know that (a) we don't have it in SA and (b) even if we did our population density is small enough not to spread like wildfire unlike say Sydney or Melbourne. I'm not anti-vax by any stretch but won't get any sort of jab like that or even a flu shot unless it was mandatory.

My wife and I are both in our 70s and both got the AZ jabs as soon as we could - and both had quite minimal reactions.
We are happy to be immunised as I suspect from what their leaders are saying that both the major eastern states will rush their opening up and even though SA will shut its borders again to keep it out there will be leaks across the border. You need to be vaccinated before you actually get the virus. I suspect even SA will have to give up the lockdowns eventually too...

That's another thing my mother's partner who has had cancer in the past got the jab and got pretty crook soon after. It might've had nothing to do with the jab as such but he was fine before he got the jab and then bedridden for about a week after he got it so I think that plays into her thinking too.

Coronavirus (Covid19)

Postby Jim05 » Mon Sep 20, 2021 4:37 pm

Things getting nuts in Melbourne.
CFMEU anti vax nut jobs have been protesting all day over mandatory jabs for construction workers. Just turned violent with Setka coming out to greet them and being pelted with debris. Doors getting kicked in and street getting trashed
The big tough guy has barricaded himself inside HQ and spraying them with a fire extinguisher through a hole in the wall.
Think he has found out that bashing women is far easier than controlling his own members

Gives the Commonwealth a great case to further break up the CFMEU that should come as a great joy to private industry across the country.

Extraordinary own goal.
