Olsen, Nicks, Burgess, Dawson, no reason they shouldn't make finals, all the key pieces are in place.

Interesting that he took a couple of years at Melbourne to get them to the standard, shows you can't appoint someone like this and expect immediate results

Depends on the level of fitness of the players when he takes over.

Melbourne were terrible fitness wise two years ago

You could make a solid case that he has a ceiling as far as what he can achieve at one club. Once he implements his world class programs both to gain fitness, mobility and recovery, assesses the data as far as players current fitness / ultimate fitness and then he sets his standards.

Whilst he takes most of the intellectual property once he leaves a club he no doubt would leave them in a position to continue on using his training methods, data methods etc, its then the clubs responsibility to maintain the level he has created.

It's almost like in the Personal Training world, you have a person who comes to you with a certain goal, you then implement the strategy and provide the motivation to reach them to that level. Once they reach that exact goal many may choose to look to maintain at that level. At that point you really should have provided the client with all your knowledge and experience that they are now capable of maintaining that goal without having to pay $50+ an hour. Obviously their goals may change or they want to take it another step further and you can assist with that but in the case of a footy club what greater goal is there than being the fittest team in the comp and winning a flag.

Got data on this? Not having go bradlach just pointing out that's not uncommon on footy forums to say a team is unfit purely by visual observations and the fact those are losing.

My experience with GPS data is that losing teams actually do more work (kms in a game) cause they are doing a lot of chasing and reactive running)) so they look unfit compared to their opposition as they are fresher due to doing less work.

Dont underestimate tactical and technical aspect of making teams look fitter.

Hit more targets, do more structured running and you save a lot of energy so in the last quarter you are running over the top of the poor bastards who cant kick and have been chasing ar5es all day.

Dont get me wrong physical preparation is important and cant be overlooked at the elite level but it is less important footy smarts and footy skills.
