Since Paine hasn’t retired I assume he keeps his CA contract.
Good pay day if he doesn’t play all summer or most likely never again

Not when he is literally the worst keeper in the country.
May aswell just give the gloves to Labuschagne or Smith, they couldn’t do any worse behind the stumps

Pretty sure the bowlers would disagree.
Ask Zampa.
Lyon would rather have his mum keep.

Carey injected in to that line up gives far more batting depth and a very good gloveman. Once We retained the Ashes in England we should have thanked Paine and moved on for the good of the Australian Test side.

Not having a crack at LK specifically, there are plenty of people talking up Carey's work with the stick, but I don't buy it.

Paine averages 32.6 in test cricket.
Carey averages 35.6 in shield cricket.

In the unlikely event that Carey could be one of a select few that could maintain his average as he steps up from shield to test cricket, even still, a bump of 3 runs is hardly 'far more depth'.

Add in the fact Carey gets to play half of his shield games on the flattest deck in domestic cricket at the moment, and I just don't buy the argument that he's the solution to any batting worries.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Weird comment on the TV this morning in regards to Tim Paine's possible omission from the squad.

They announced that he still has the Aus A game to prove himself as a keeper for the test team.

I think they know whether he can keep or not by now, there's a little underlying issue though that might sway against him.

Hasn’t played any cricket since April and had neck surgery so perhaps they aren’t confident he can come back

Is a sexting scandal really a valid reason to omit someone from the side?
