Jhye Richardson another 4 for. He would be my selection to partner Cummins and Hazlewood.

Also 23 year old Tim Ward has moved up to fourth in the shield runs this year 339 @ 48. I believe this is his first year of shield cricket but could be wrong. Maybe one to watch in the future.

Crikey the Vics look strong. Why has Pattinson retired from the top level ffs? He will be racking them up this summer. And blokes as good as Dean who can't get a regular run, there's some real depth there. Dean should have been targetted by the Redbacks or even the bloody Blues for that matter.

Even on an unsafe pitch the redbacks can only take 1 wicket

Ward actually made his debut for Tasmania late last season. He was born in NSW, played Grade cricket for Parramatta and made the move down to Tasmania last season looking to break into first class cricket.
His scores of 144 and 81 against Queensland at Karen Rolton Oval in round one pump his numbers up but yes, he has a good start to the season and FC career.

Cant say I often watch big stints of the shield cricket but is this how Travis Head usually captains......if so the talk of him being a future captain is laughable.

Got a pitch with a ton of moisture in humid conditions and the field is spread and the bowlers are encouraged to land every ball in their half of the wicket.

This is a joke!!!

Labuschagne has appeared to struggle with the shorter stuff so far.

In other news, good purchase off the pitch for Head.. if he can get it right, could prove dangerous.

If you're QLD - are you looking at a sporting declaration after 100 overs, see if you can get in and bowl on these conditions while it's still tough.. or bat forever and let guys like Street, Labuschagne, Khawaja score as many as they can?

If I'm captain.

Batting to 100 overs would roughly put them on 250. If we are still only 2-4 down I'm then batting the next 10 overs as a T20 and looking to get to 300 or slightly more. That should then send the Backs in before tea for a real crack at them.

300 first innings give us the chance to be able to win this game without taking risk if we bowl well eg bowl them out for 150-200. If we get to 250 that's fine but we are most likely going to have to give a sporting third innings declaration to win the game.
