Yep can’t really argue with it.
You’d love to get Steve Waugh in the 11 but who would he replace?
Clarke or Hussey maybe?

Can't put Steve Waugh in that XI. 20 years ago was 2001. He retired in 2004 so only played 2001 in the UK and 2002/03 here in Australia.

Was about to write the same thing.

I think if we stretch it back 30 years then he is an inclusion at Hussey's expense, that would be my only change.

Similar numbers but Waugh was around at the toughest of times and had grit that we'll never see again.

One thing I've found interesting is the similarities between the three best captains IMO is that they all came on to the scene with huge wraps, ended up getting dropped before too long and came back absolute superstars.

I think they did too. Warner has been massive but was pathetic in England last time around. Can't have Lee or Gillespie for Johnson or Cummins either. Johnson won a series almost by himself and Gillespie was out of gas by 2005. Lee was a shock bowler but Cummins has him covered.

More interesting would be the teams since the retirement of Warne, McGrath and Langer.

Not having a crack at LK specifically, there are plenty of people talking up Carey's work with the stick, but I don't buy it.

Paine averages 32.6 in test cricket.
Carey averages 35.6 in shield cricket.

In the unlikely event that Carey could be one of a select few that could maintain his average as he steps up from shield to test cricket, even still, a bump of 3 runs is hardly 'far more depth'.

Add in the fact Carey gets to play half of his shield games on the flattest deck in domestic cricket at the moment, and I just don't buy the argument that he's the solution to any batting worries.

23 runs at 3.83 over his last 6 shield innings...

I have a lot of love for Dizzy but have to agree with you there, Johnson was simply unplayable at times and the Poms were shits scared of him.

Was never much of a Lee fan, I don't care for the theatrics and scaring the bag out of number 11's, just knock the pegs over and think about how you're going to get the best batsmen out.

Genuinely disappointing.. every **** wit on their moral high horse throws their unneeded opinion and views on a topic or a bloke.

I couldn't give a damn if he sent dick pics to my wife, or was banging her on the side.. that shouldn't factor in on his ability to do his job as W/K.

Yup, and half of these media commentators who are slamming him this week will next week be saying as a society we don't support blokes enough through mental health issues.
