I can't see the Cummins captaincy thing working. I'd go back to Smith.

Unfortunately I agree with you on the first part, I think appointing Smith is unethical though.

Travis Head has really missed the boat here, he was VC not too long ago, to think he could've been the skipper of the national test team now.

I find it funny that no matter how good Marnus is, his name never comes into contention with captaincy discussions.

So what happens after the third test when the biomedical scientist taps the selectors on the shoulder and says Cummins needs a rest for the 4th test as his overs bowled stat is hitting the redline.

Possibly the way that they can reinstate Smith and say "not our fault".

.... or they ignore the biomedical scientist and he breaks down. Either way, you will have to expect there will be instances when your skipper will be unavailable. Less likely if it's a batter.

Could he do an Imran Khan become a great allrounder ?

There's some lofty heights, I do think he is borderline allrounder material.

We have a knack of developing our bowlers batting skills, we haven't had a genuine bunny for some time.

This will be a massive indicator on how serious CA are in Cummins being a real captain rather than figure head whilst Smith captains.

His batting has gone to shit lately, would be nice if he could return to how he started with the bat.

I don't think he's close to a bowling all rounder.

Career Average of 16 with two half centuries from 50 innings.
Since his last half ton he's batted 21 times at an average of 11.38 with a top score of 28.

So his batting has gone down hill of late really.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Thanks for the clarification, I did used to wonder why he batted above Starc, he probably had him covered with his defence but Starc is a capable bat.
