I'm not a huge Khawaja fan but he also had that big innings against the Pakis in Dubai that I think either won or saved us the game a few years back.

Well given he's got more red ball runs this season, it's a fair decision

Runs are the primary currency that should count when picking batsmen.

They both should've been included.

Warner
Harris
Labuschagne
Smith
Khawaja
Green
Carey
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood
Lyon

Would be surprised if that is not the XI

Plenty of action for the English slips with Harris and Khawaja in the side.
Dave Warner will be missed!

That's looking like it, personally I would have Richardson in for Starc and wouldn't be going with Harris either, we seem to have an abundances of inform openers at the moment instead we are picking a bloke whose scores this year are 9, 137, 1, 0.

Also why didn't Harris play in the last round of shield games.

I have no issues with them picking Ussy, but don't know why he isn't opening in lieu of Harris and Head at 5, Green at 6.

Batting at 3 for Australia is pretty much opening anyway given the past couple of years performances.

Had to laugh when they thought Joey Burns was back when he ploughed a half century when we only needed 70 odd for the win with about 3 days to bat.

I love the bloke but he couldn't quite cut it at the top level, we've had a shitload of openers that are somewhere in between shield and test cricket standard, it keep Warner's job safe until he's had enough, he can have two series of failures before he'll come under scrutiny.

October 2018, opening the batting Khawaja made 141 (302) to help Australia draw the match. Scored 85 in the first innings too.

Wish I could like this comment more than once haha, if Anderson, Broad, Woakes and Robinson find a bit of nibble it could be nick city!

He left the Victorian side to enter the Aussies Ashes squad bubble/training camp.

I would've made way for another batsman at Jadeja's expense.

Agreed it should of been Karunaratne instead of Labuschagne opening the batting and Williamson and Root should be the other way round.
Jadeja has currently been the best allrounder so I can understand his inclusion.
