First match of the series and I don't recognise half the players
Mitch Marsh is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Yep, the Stars in particular have a handful of new players.
I didn't even know the Big Bash started tonight until I saw an ad for it when the wife put the news on earlier.

As the most anticipated test series this century starts shield cricket is suspended so this rubbish can be played.

Awful game to kick off.

Too early. When it was an 8 game season (4 home, 4 away) and started just before Christmas that was perfect.

Meant big crowds too because with only 4 games a home match was seen as a bit of an event not to be missed. Now there's so many games who cares. GWS get bigger crowds than last night

Talent pool is too shallow for 8 franchises, add in the fact that the salary cap is too small to entice quality imports.

Must say that I seen the ugliest two 40's last night from Duckett and Heazlett, the only thing uglier was the Thunder's fielding.

Geez this comp is second rate.

I don’t watch BBL but just saw the Strikers batting line up. If that’s the best we can come up with no wonder people aren’t going or watching

We just get into the 'swing' of BIG Bash cricket and it will be interrupted by a Ashes test match
In 50 years time when 20/20 is the most popular and accepted form of cricket, they will wonder how on earth a Test match was played in the same period of time

I'm in the minority, I'm happy seeing teams with more grade cricketers and less "big names" or established domestic players.

I can see why West Torrens have Nielsen as their second choice keeper :P

Why wasn't that missed stumping called a wide?

How’s the half arsed “dive” off Siddles first ball - don’t think his feet even got off the ground.
