Course is in pretty good nick for what it is. I'm also a member there but not sure when I will play "comp" next due to other Saturday commitments.

I played a quick (1 hour 5 mins) by myself last Saturday morning as I had some spare time.

Be interested to see a review of the course.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Played on Sunday at Whittlesea - north of Melbourne.

Shit it was wet..... really shouldn't have been allowed on the course, let alone in carts!

Small turnout for our group, just a field of 15. After 6 holes all my grips etc were soaked. I used to own wet weather gear, no idea where that is now. I turned up in shorts! Frooze my nads off.

We started on the back 9, had bogey, then par at the long par 5 11th. Another par on 12 and I was looking ok. 13th long drive hole. I hit a decent drive, only to be beaten by about a metre and a half by one of the guys in my group. Bugger! Next hole uphill par 4 - 13th - prize for nearest in 2 shots to the pin. I hit my 9 iron on..... only to be knocked off, by the same bloke, by about the same distance..... FFS!

Then mixed in some fair shyte to make the turn with 17 points. Pared the 1st, nice, then completely stuffed the short (105 metre) down hill par 3 - wiped out. Finished the 9 with 13 points for a total of 30 points for the day. Being such a small group my 18 handicap saw me in A grade (normally that's top end B Grade)...... and I won the day by a point!

If I'd been in the usual B grade I would have missed out - 34 being the best score of the day..... although 1 bloke who had 34 needs an abacus!

What a 4 day visit to the Riverland!

Our accommodation was absolutely superb. The group stays area at the Berri Riverside Holiday Park is out of this world. 15 individual rooms all king beds, ensuite, fridge, tv, climate control. The units are in a U shape around a courtyard. the top of the U is a large kitchen with a verandah out the front that has seating, gas heating, a large tv and can be enclosed with blinds. In the kitchen there are 2 full fridges, a freezer and 2 commercial ovens with gas burners.. value for money was just outstanding. 10/10 it was so good we booked for next year as we left.

https://www.berriholidaypark.com.au/groups-conferences/

Thursdays 1st round was a wet day at Berri GC. Was a pretty nice course to start the tour with.. although not much fun if (when) you miss a fairway, the sand there was a nightmare to play out of. Greens were a nice size and a little on the slow side, took a little getting used to for a few of our guys. Clubhouse was sensational, but as we were soaked we didn't hang around too long. We needed to get back and shower and warm up.

Friday was a trip to Loxton for what was the 1st of 3 ridiculously windy days. The best turf conditions of the courses we played. Tees, fairways and greens were all in top condition, arguably better condition than some of the big city courses. A well laid out course with some huge trees lining fairways. Could quite easily play there every week if i was a local.

The weekend saw us take on Barmera GC and their Spring Classic event. The day started off a bit shaky when the mini bus driver didn't get the memo that 16 blokes all had bags and buggies and a trailer was needed. Luckily we had some skilled tetris players on the trip and somehow we all managed to fit in with our gear to this 21 seat bus. The driver then stalled the bus as he tried to take off. The best part of the trip there was getting dropped off on doorstep of the clubhouse. I'm not talking next to it in the car park, i mean alongside the 1st tee under the verandah. Was a few strange looks as we all piled out with our clubs and stuff.
The course was in great condition with probably the best greens of the trip. Saturday night was spent in the club with a 3 course meal and the general running amok of boys on tour. $6 pints probably helped things get a little messier than needed.

Riverland you were amazing and the FLOG Golf tour will be back next year!

Had a hit a Nth Adelaide

Started on the par 3 and that's in good nick. Greens are a little slow, but it's a good little track to work on the wedges and or get the kids/Mrs out.
Then onto the North course 2 ball ambrose.
Course is on condition. Doesn't get as much love as big brother South. The amount of walking between holes... feels like half the actual course distance!
Having not played there in 20+yrs we were hitting blind!!
My game was average at best for the first 9 and then we found some magic. The baffler delivered some beautiful high draws.

We came in at 69 off the stick..
Not bad for a pair of 16 and 18 hcp, who haven't hit the course as often as liked and rusty. And the sun started to cook me out halfway through the north course.

Looks like there are plans to sell of the land over the road or as the other 2 in the group called them Island Holes.
Tee blocks marked out with long course/short course signs.
And the further from the club house, the more baron the course looked. Might be a case of turning the North course into similar at the Pat and make it an executive course.

A few of the lads all continued on to the South course and then 1 club challenge on Par 3 to finish off with.... a few sore bodies tomorrow!

They are pumping some money into irrigation and drainage on the north course, hopefully come up alright

37 points including 3 wipes - drove well and putted terribly, would’ve left probably 5 out there.
Very lucky weather wise, stopped raining as we tee’d off & the wind only picked up on the 16th. Course in pretty good nick, I’ve always enjoyed playing up there. Hoping to get a couple of rounds in at Victor & McCracken over Christmas.

Heading over to SA between Christmas & New Year.

Setting up a game with my son, back at the old stomping ground.

I hope he has booked a cart!

Expecting him to thrash me, the little bugger.

Mid season break report from the Vines Seven's comp, started on 27 and now down to 21 - hoping to get into the teens in the NY.

Really enjoying playing once a week and golf is getting pretty consistent. Shot a 43 one round but averaging high 40's for 9.

Having a hit at West Lakes on Friday morning with some mates.
