Marcus Harris set up the victory with a really hard fought 76 when all other batsmen, other than Root didn’t get past 38

Do they rest Starc?
Hazelwood comes in for Starc.
Does Richardson or Boland play as well?

I’d go with Cummins, Hazelwood and Richardson

I'd give them a sporting chance and go in with Egan, Muldoon and Price ;)
Whoops, there goes another year. Whoops, there goes another pint of beer.

I dunno about you but I reckon 6 for 7 is a bit better than 76. :D

Harris for me.

Does Boland get dropped for Sydney?
Hazelwood, Cummins, Green, two spinners? If only one spinner i think Richardson needs to play if Starc is rested.
If they stay in Melbourne then yes Boland stays in

Who gives a Flying F**K about meaningless MOM awards ?

Should be more worried about the pathetic MCG Curators over the decades>
The MCG is the most over rated cricket venue in the World
Back in the 80s the square was barren of grass and the ball didn't bounce
Then it turned into a road
Now we have 2 day tests because it's too much in the bowlers favour.

These curators have unlimited resources at their disposal and still cant come up with a half decent pitch that gives a fair contest at the so called "Home of cricket"

I think Harris probably marginally. Made the runs when the game was more or less in the balance.

Cmon RB he might not have converted like he should have in Australia but I'd say he's the least of our worries. Did you see our batting stats for 2021? It's one of the most absurd stats ever. Imagine how many runs he would make if he got to play in this Australian side rather then coming in at 2 for 15 everytime.

Agreed BB

England in 2021:
Root 1700 runs
Burns 560 runs
Extras 460 runs

And he scored the bulk of those runs against the best attack in the world- India who tore our blokes a new one last season

This is the worst English team I’ve seen. 1 batsman 1 all rounder and 3 bowlers.

Too big a load carried by too few who are fatigued after playing almost 20 tests in 30 months in bio-bubbles.

This English side a shot ducks.

Root reminds me of Border in the mid 80s a single batsman carrying the load for his team

Kudos to him.
Fair enough.

I think my point stands though. I wouldn't pick him over any other touring side's top batsman that I can recall, excluding the Bangers and Zimmers of course. Just nicks up playing nothing shots so often.

I think the stats above are more of a reflection on Root's dud teammates.

Him making 1700 runs at 60 on some of the hardest tracks with literally no team mates is incredible. Your saying he's not better then anyone of SA, WI, Sri Lanka or Pakistan's best batsmen at the moment? I get he's not Sachin or Lara but he's much better then any touring batsmen in the world atm bar Williamson and Kohli and I'd argue he's been much better the Kohli the last few years.

Anyways we were awful and hats off to boland on an incredible debut.

The only way England can avoid a 5-0 series is to name Covid in their 4th test team , and lose the series 3-0

Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood is our best combo. If all fit they all play and others make way

You can't tell me the pitch had anything to do with half of the dismissals, especially poms first innings.

Nothing wrong with the deck at all. Actually a good cricket wicket in my view. The poms capitulated, they are dead set cooked and want to go home.

Easy for us to say cause it’s not our money or careers but yeah give Starc a break and play Cummins, Hazelwood, Boland and Lyon

The rest of the side stays the same, out of all the non automatic selections such as Harris, Green, Head and Carey the one I would persist with the longest even if their form slumps is Green. He will eventually gain confidence with the bat and there is so much upside with his bowling.

Head is in decent touch just needs to capatailise to cement his spot for the next year or so
Harris has earnt the rest of the series
Carey needs to do more with the bat and is a tad overrated with the gloves IMO. Holds his spot until another keeper smashes down the door with runs.

Now that Ferg has retired he has turned his attention to Carey :D

When he gets a set against someone he keeps going and going and going, bit like Warner’s commentary

The fact they are two of the nicest blokes going around makes it even harder to read!

I don’t mind, seems like a really good bloke and probably great team mate

Reckon his very average with the bat and reckon he does the basics well with the gloves despite every south Aussie thinking his the greatest gloveman to play the game. Do I think we can be the number 1 team in the world with Carey as our keeper and Harris at home he top……no

Ive been very disappointed with Carey’s keeping in the first three tests. Taken 10/10 regulation catches, but missed 4/4 half chances including two he didn’t go at. Which IMO is where a keeper ‘earns’ his money unless your Buttler off course.

I was vouching for Carey to come in for Paine for a while now but I now seeing even more of him I think Paine was ahead of him in all departments.

Ps I like Carey far better than Ferg.
