Not always but not sure when the rules changed

I don’t mind it as long as the injury is genuine and one obtained during the game not before hand. Surely Buttler can’t bat top 7 now though, probably should be a stricter rule though like have to bat 11

Why isn’t Butler keeping?

Sore thumb
So they have 2 actual keepers (not very good ones) in their side yet a sub has to come in and keep.
Sounds legit

Neser and Richardson won’t go, they’ll be giving Green every chance to work out how to bat at test level a la Steve Waugh 35 years ago.

The big 3 + Boland, IMO.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yeah agree that will be the top 4. Richardson might go if they take a bigger squad because of Covid.

Utterly ridiculous that Pope's allowed to keep.

It used to be not technically illegal, but up to the opposing captain's discretion from what I can recall. If that were still the case I'd hope Cummins would've told them to get stuffed.

I've noticed a couple of subs fielding in catching positions in the last couple of years. Total nonsense.

Must have been informed already he's out for Hobart

He’ll be going to Pakistan as first choice but they’ll take Inglis a cover.

Australia don’t drop ‘keepers, they give them a good go they are generally only replaced through injury, Barnett 1938 (shouldn’t have been picked over Tallon in the first place arguably), McLean 1978-79 and Dyer 1988 excepted.

@WHUFC take BEX pal, where have I said ALex would be 100% happy with his keeping and I said after Brisbane don’t judge a keeper on catches you judge him on mistakes made. Yes he made some but no more or less than others have made after four tests. He knows what he has to do. His fundamentals are spot on and the fact he is now going for the half chances is a step up from Adelaide.

His batting who knows what instructions he’s been given. An argument could be that he’s putting team before self, I don’t know. That will also improve as he gets used to Test cricket.

Bottom line he’s still odds on to be keeping in the first test in India in Sept and most likely the 1st Test against the West Indies in Nov this year.

I think the law has changed ( at the same as the concussion replacement I think) or a more liberal interpretation has been applied.

I think it’s a common sense approach to so teams aren’t overly disadvantaged.

Agree

If used for genuine injuries I can’t see an issue with it, especially on a pitch like this where balls are spitting up and smashing gloves.

His a little bit in the Travis Head category where against quality bowling you never feel there always in or on their way to a big score.

Khawaja is a bit the opposite once his in you feel like his going real big, he just doesn’t seem to get in as much

Game on here.

If they can get one of Khawaja or Smith they could be chasing 250

Time for Green and Carey to stand up with the bat.

The make shift keeper Pope upstaging all the other keepers this series.

Pope doesn’t even keep regularly for Surrey with Foakes being there keeper who is regarded the ‘best keeper’ in England.
