Short ball tactics seem to have Smiths measure……..balls in his court now to come up with a way to beat it

I know it’s not but why do I keep thinking that black ankle brace that keeps showing under Broads creams is actually a Department of Correctional Services tracking bracelet…
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Australia’s last great keeper came of age in a Hobart test when needed…….let’s hope history repeats.

I understand how players like Warner Head can play over attacking shots and get out
But players like Steve Smith , given the state of the game, is as bad a shot SELECTION Ive ever seen him play

Reckon they should go the other way, open with Crawley and Stokes and give stokes the licence to do what he does best, he's had a horrid series and have nothing to lose really, may just come off

This batting line up plays the short ball as badly as any Aussie line up ever..
Shocking judgment of when to leave and when to play and invariably happy to roll the dice. And some (incl Warner) look downright petrified.

Why? Maybe they face less bouncers domestically these days? Is that a throw back to Phil Hughes?
None of our current batch of quicks bowl a lot of short stuff. Back when we had quicks bowling short, our lads were very capable of not only surviving, but prospering, against bouncers.

excellent post, something hadnt really thought about, our best player of the short ball, well hooking wise appears to be Nathan Lyon, is a compulsive hooker and gets runs more often than not as shown in the 1st dig
