If you are angry about the Wiggles winning Triple j’ hottest you’re too old to be listening to the youth broadcaster.
PS I gave up on JJJ decades ago when that god awful Whitlams song went to no 1.

I did have to laugh at how the world has changed in 30 years....
Early nineties and "Asshole' wins the triple j hottest 100 with lines such as 'handicap people pulling handicap faces' Could you imagine how the current day triple j listener would view that song...……
Not saying its a bad thing but was a real reflection on how the world has changed.
I don't get the uproar though about the Wiggles, I mean if everyone voted for it then its a worthy winner year. Its not like JJJ are just selecting their personal favourite. Keeping in mind double J played one of the early 2000 countdowns on Sunday in which Alex Lloyd Amazing won the countdown. Surely the wiggles version of Elephant was better. Albeit that same 2000 countdown had around 50 songs I still listen to today.

I have no idea what criteria the voting uses but f*** me, I just tried listening to the winning song, the rest of the songs must've been pure trash if that one pipped it.
Late 90's/early 00's, the triple J hottest 100 albums were filled with great songs, I discovered so many more by listening to the albums when I hadn't heard the songs on commercial radio, triple J never really did it for me as a station.

Shows the voting system is flawed. How many people would have chucked the Wiggles in at 9 or 10 to fill a spot?whufc wrote:Lightning McQueen wrote:whufc wrote:Armchair expert wrote:Triple J music is pure shit

Anyone can vote for up to 10 songs with each vote carrying equal weight of one vote, the song with the most votes win.

I recon going back 5 or so years Taylor Swift got the most votes with shake it off, but then there was an outcry that Taylor Swift was too mainstream so shouldn't be allowed to win. So they removed her from the list and bumped everyone else up one vote.
You need to be the most popular of the moderately popular song. If you are too much the most popular, you become mainstream and can't win again.
As others have mentioned, the countdown isn't what it used to be.
