Not sure Craig bowls quick enough to be classed "medium pace".

He would be the first to admit that.

His the one day specialist....his bowling record in the one dayers is phenomal. I honestly don't think he would be averaging more than 10 a wicket in that version of the game.

Talking of awards on the ASCA page reminds me of a famous award at our club.

We were playing Sandy Creek out there, we had Shaun Maguire as a gun opener along with Tony Burke and James Morris occupied the top 3, Burke was a relative new comer and was elevated to the A's after some solid lower grade performances after coming to us with a mate.

Magsy got out relatively cheap this day and although we were doing ok at 1 fa, we were chasing Sandy's 298 and we copped a heap of stick about it, Sandy always loved a yak and we didn't mind one either.

There was a run out opportunity and Burkey was struggling to get to the strikers end when there was a big confident appeal for a run out while Magsy was doing square leg, Magsy looked down at the ground and said "not out", they carried on for a bit but it wasn't a mile out and they would've done the same thing.

Tony went on to make 120, we got up and won by about 20 runs and we're pretty pumped as we went for a dip in the dam across the road.

I was doing awards back at the club and I gave MOTM to Magsy, the place erupted with laughter.

Burke collected 10 schooners for his ton anyway.

We are lucky our club is in the middle of limited over matches - doubt we would've got a side up this week otherwise if it was 2 dayers.

I see a couple of games got a start on Saturday, that's dedication or their wives must be horrible.

The game I was at had Lake Eyre at one end of the pitch and constant light drizzle from noon onwards.

One dude from the other team was ultra keen for a game, he said "We can wait up until 3pm to see if we can get a start" I was bloody livid so I showed him the radar of what was heading our way, it had more colours than Bedgie's wardrobe.

Common sense prevailed and it was called off just after 1.

Our C Grade side went out to field - lasted about 20 overs before calling it off. From all reports it pissed down almost the entire innings, and the ball was just a soapy mess but opposition were keen to press on and keep playing, until one of the bowlers bowled a full toss that was hit for 6 and they cracked it and called it off.

Same grade, Para Vista were the big winners - they needed about an hour to roll Eyre Royals and chase the runs. They were 0.10 points above 5th - with the result and no other games being completed now move 10pts clear.

Side note.. with the increasing risk of Covid and people being forced into isolation - where does that leave the season?

Would you continue to chew through the season and see if you can get to the end, or bring finals forward?

Interestingly, for all grades below 2, everyone I believe has played each other twice or three times due to the format.. Grade 1 and 2 played each other once and are onto the 2nd round of the reverse fixture.

I reckon the worst possible outcome would be getting through minor round and awarding a premier from top spot as they did the other season without a finals campaign.

With 7x weeks left in the minor round, without looking, you'd think most the ladders would be getting close to being set.

Even though I applaud the PDCA by having Grades 1 & 2 play all two dayers, it's bloody hard work for the clubs now with so many cases and close contacts having to isolate, probably need to make a call of some sort very soon, probz what the emergency meeting is all about.

On a side note, who the f*** requested two umpires for Grade 1 games? ching ching.

Think this might be what the emergency meeting is about.

Email that was circulated last week indicated the umpires made the decision for 2 umpires due to the behavior of some clubs/players.

Emergency meeting will contain a bit of both I dare say.. plan forward trying to deal with covid as there have many games forfeited already because of it, nobody wants to win a flag without winning a grand final so anything that helps get us to a proper outcome will be welcomed! 2 umpires in grade 1 is just garbage, expect that to be thrown out the window surely

Not sure that's accurate - at least not in the Men's comp.. think there has only been 2x occasions both in the LO comps.

Women though, our women were impacted first game back after xmas with 7/10 members in isolation, and Eastern Park this round with a stack.

LO1: Top 4 basically set, Union are 16pts behind 4th with 7 games to go. 3rd and 4th wont catch Pirates, and Pirates wont catch PV.
LO2: Salis West are 47 points behind 5th who are in a tight battle for the 4th spot with OTH and Smithfield. Units and ATCO miles clear.
LO3: Para Vista almost 30 points clear on top, Eyre Royals 30pts clear in 2nd, 3-5 all close on points with Eastern Park 13pts off.
LO4: ATCO and Adelaide Risers 15 and 14 pts clear of 3rd, Enfield and Para Vista are fighting for the last finals spot, Eyre Royals 60pts behind in 6th.
LO5: Athelstone and Enfield 30pts clear of 3rd, North Pines are 19pts behind 4th.
LO6: Top 4 all set. Eyre Royals are 50pts behind in 5th.

Just play a GF for the LO sides with 1v2 - bad luck for the rest.

Grade 1: Play LO matches the next few weeks to settle a top 4, then finals.
Grade 2: Same as Grade 1
Grade 3: Top 4 is pretty well set, you could start finals anytime.
Grade 4: Salis West miles clear, Enfield 16pts ahead of Craigmore (play each other this week), the top 4 could well be set by Sat night.
Grade 5: Two Wells almost 20pts clear of 5th place Eyre Royals.

Two day comps, you could almost pull the trigger whenever and start finals early off the ladder positions - people might complain about integrity but reality is each club has played each other at least twice, so hard to argue clubs haven't had a chance.

Absolute worst case if it looked like we wouldn't be able to complete the season at any stage, then just schedule GF for 1v2

LO2: End the season and have a GF now.
LO3: Same.
LO4: As above two.
LO5 Ditto.
LO6: Play a traditional finals system already.
