Surely not as he’s been our most consistent and most reliable player since he’s been there

Nielsen said he was taking Harry’s spot when Carey came back so he had to go.

PS If true, Tim Neilson has to go, was the second highest run scorer in the comp behind McDermott, got us out of trouble most games!

Spot on Eags - I'm hearing he's targeting more interstate players for the Redbacks and offering Strikers contracts as an enticer to get them over the line. I'd be staggered if they don't offer young Kelly (and even his brother who went at a rate of 233 this year in the local T20s) a contract and also Drew. You watch these blokes get snapped up by another state/franchise because SA/Strikers are asleep at the wheel. Absolute joke. Also, would it be fair to say that Harry is a bit of a distraction playing at WT when you have to play him when he's available?

I just read on Cricinfo that the Strikers parted ways with Wells citing a 'shift in list management strategy', what a joke!

"This is a difficult decision, however with the uncertain nature of overseas player recruitment in the current landscape, the depth of young talent and a need to consistently evolve as a team, the Strikers remain committed to doing everything possible to build a team contending for titles," a Strikers statement said.

I just read that as well.
What does uncertainty with overseas players have to do with Wells?
Surely you keep him still if there is uncertainty!

Beside Thomas Kelly, who else is "young talent"? Surely not Liam Scott?? Usual SACA/Strikers BS!!! I hope he gets another gig somewhere and slays it when he plays the Strikers!!!

We keep flogs like Renshaw but move on Wells who apparently is a team man and all round good guy.

No wonder the SACA have been utter shit for over 20 years now

Here is the Strikers domestic contract list:
3 years:
Weatherald
2 years:
Carey
1 year:
Agar
Conway
Gibson
Nielsen
Renshaw
Short
Off-contract:
Ahmed
Head
Johnson
O'Connor
Scott
Siddle
Wells
Worrall

Obviously and unfortunately Wells has already gone but I would be losing Head, O'Connor and Scott also to free up some space to attract a player with "match winning" potential such as a Chris Lynn, Caleb Jewell, Shaun Marsh, Josh Philippe, Dan Christian, Alex Ross or Jason Sangha, all of these players are out of contract.

The comp is not designed to blood players for the national side and we need to steer away from players that could potentially be called up for national duties.

We also need to keep a few scrubber son the list to make room in the cap for some big name players and entice another solid international player, I can't see Rashid sticking around too much longer playing with this circus, we Bradburied into the finals and nearly pulled it off, the nucleus was there, Wells going will hurt big time.
