Step into the breach when Australian Cricket is in crisis - check,
Sets standards of behaviour - check
Retains ASHES - check
Has coaching style questioned, changes style /behaviours - check
Wins T20 World Cup - check
Retain ASHES again - check

Still not good enough to get a contract extension, WTF??

Bottom line if he hadn’t adjusted his coaching style and we’d lost the ASHES fair cop.

With only being offered a 5 month extension to the end of the T20 World Cup, cricket Australia have loaded the gun and let JL fire the gun himself.

With what happened to Paine, now JL and I still maintain they set the culture and standards that led to Cape Town (that disgraceful 4-0 sign at the end of the 2017-18 ASHES) CA proving once again Ian Chappell is right went it comes to the self interested, non transparent attitude of Australian Cricket Administrators!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Langer is from the old school, probably told a few of them to toughen up and they started crying.

I’m pretty sure McDonald said weeks ago he didn’t want the main job due to his young family.

Who would want that job.

Besides flogging the poms, when push came to shove India finished all over us with a B grade bowling attack at home. There has to be some questions about mental toughness of these guys and Langer probably posed that same question and the boys didn't like it.

The next patch will be telling. We should be too good for Pakistan but it is a massive mental hurdle going there to play. I read an interesting book where Steve Waugh talked about playing cricket in Pakistan and how you have to embrace the country as the challenge itself other wise it becomes a mammoth task.

Not sure we have too many of the character of that bloke.

So the tail wags the dog at CA huh? Players decide who coaches?? When did this happen? Why didn't it happen when I had a football coach that no one liked?

FFS what a pack of sooks.

And there my friends is what is wrong with today's youth.

They need constant cuddling so they don't get depressed when the heat is on.

Never ever had a problem with getting an old fashioned spray from the coach, but these days its called bullying behaviour.

Let's see if these overpaid sooks respond and start winning consistently in all forms of the game.

Honestly does it matter who coaches a national team like Australia? They all have there own people they go to for technical issues, Langer essentially just organises training. Listening to the test he just said what us grade cricketers say on a Saturday. Ponting is the one that actually could make a difference as coach as the way he talks about cricket is next level.

If the players didn't like langer which they clearly didn't, why on earth would you keep him.

Agree 100%
Langer was the team manager primarily.

If the coach doesn't do anything I wonder why they needed to get rid of him?

Clearly he has a fair bit of input on a regular basis. Enough to put people off-side.

Supposedly he has been pushed to the side since August with DiVenuto and A McDonald taking more prominent roles but who knows whether to believe that
