Australia v Sri Lanka, Second T20 on tonight again in Sydney, the Aussies have one change to their team, Kane Richardson comes in for Starc.

For SL left armer Fernando who bowled very well on Friday is out after testing positive to COVID. The bowler replacing him has a similar action to Lasith Malinga.

Hazlewood executed brilliantly in the Lankans super over then Maxwell and Stoinis see it home for the Aussies, pretty crazy finish to the match. The Lankans 20th over, bowled by Stoinis was a poor over and the Aussies fielding was pretty sloppy as SL came from nowhere to almost win it which they probably deserved to.

It's weird how the slightest change in our team sets off totally different dynamics.

Mitch Marsh is a must, even if he doesn't end up bowling just having him there seems to give us another dimension, I wouldn't like to be banking on Stoinis to have to bowl 4 overs, not having the left arm quick gives us less potency also, I'm not sure of the Kano fascination either, I love the guy but is he our fifth best quick for this format?

Given that our team will change a fair bit over the next few years I'd be looking to phase out Warner and possibly Smith, I don't mind Wade hanging about for a bit longer as we have succession plans for a keeper and he is handy coming in late and scoring quickly.

We have options in the short game atm, filtering them though gradually is good, we've tended to go too many at once previously, we had the perfect mix for the World Cup so if we follow that blueprint we can't go too far wrong IMO.

McDermott is a must going forward, Inglis is moving in the right direction too, developing another middle order batsman, a quick and a stump to stump orthodox spinner will hold us in good steed.

Smith will now miss the remaining three matches of this series as he has concussed himself during his unbelievable attempted boundary save last night.

Not good for Smith obviously and hopefully he'll be right for the Pakistan tour but it now gives an opportunity to Henriques or Head to take his spot so I'm interested to see how they go replacing Smith.

As for Kane Richardson the Aussie Selectors obviously like him but I agree with you as I'm not sure if he's the next cab off the rank when there's Jhye Richardson in the current squad aswell as Sams, Agar as the second spinner and other possible options going forward like you said.

Sams was the obvious replacement for Starc despite me not being a big fan of his, I find him in that huge pool of players that we have that are excellent at domestic level but not quite there on the international scale.

The Dorf is the bloke I'd have in the squad for when you're sitting out Starc.

Smith is a great ODI player but I'd sit him out of this format, at 35 I don't see the point in persevering with Moises, we've got the series licked and he isn't going to be a make or break player.

Yes aswell as Sams you could probably add any of Tye, Abbott, Meredith, Ellis, D'Arcy Short, Henriques, Phillippe, Turner, Lynn and Maddinson to that pool but that's not to say guys like Meredith and Phillippe will improve and possibly become regulars in Australia's T20 team.

Behrendorff doesn't get enough love mate and it's a travesty he doesn't.

I also tend to think Smith playing T20s is becoming a waste of time and wouldn't mind if he gave up on playing the format but the Aussies obviously like having him in there as the Anchor/Mr Fix It type of role.
