Surely Westies wouldn't play him in the league side if dropped back though, would be a pretty big distraction having him come in from week to week....is he allowed to play against West Adelaide.
What happens if Port drop him for form, are Westies required to play him in the league side or can they just place him in the ressies.

This happened at Centrals, a player was dropped from their AFL overlord but Roy wouldn't play him where the overlords wanted Roy to play him so the overlords took him from Centrals & placed him at another SANFL club.
Here we go again,
just create an AFL reserves comp!

I'm all for formalised season long loans. Centrals would be a great example of this.
At the moment we have a shortage of ruckmen...….would be great if there is another club who are very well equipped in that area that would be happy to loan one of their up and comers who wont get an oppurtunity at league footy this year.
Essentially there would be need to be a small loan fee no doubt...….but not as much as what the transfer fees are.
Player would train for the season with the loaning club but remain in contact with their home club.
Just like in the EPL you could have rules that's clubs can negotiate such as:
-Not allowed to play against home club
-Can negotiate a recall in the loan for the home club, can include no recall for the home club
-Can include an option to transfer at the end of season with a set transfer fee included
-Can stipulate a role a player must play at the loaning club, if not adhered to the recall option if included could be activated
-Might include fees if the player plays XXXX amount of league games, kicks XXX amount of goals etc.
-Deadline date throughout season for loans to agreed.
-In the EPL a player can only go out on loan once in a season, they cant go to multiple clubs in the same season.
-In the EPL there is rules about amount of players a club can loan and how many players from the one club they can loan.
Surely there would be players that would be willing to be loaned out on the basis of better oppurtunity and it has to only be a good thing for the league in fringe(ish) players stay in the SANFL system rather than give up on their SANFL hopes and play country.

One good point, they won't leave the SANFL for the lure of bigger bucks in the country.

If you look at british football its a pretty fair system that sees benefits for all 3 parties, the player, the loaning club, the home club.

It's the other way around, he's now signed up with Port, if he doesn't play for Port, he goes back to West.

The way I read it the intention is he’ll be playing with the Power Reserves all year so West won’t see him at all.. could be wrong..

I don't think he's good enough yet for league SANFL.
