Yup as Allan Border famously said on day 3 at Headingly in 1993 when we were 4/857 at stumps on day 2 (well close enough to 857.....)

"We're batting on to cause them more physical and mental disintegration..."

S Waugh barred up (according to his Tour Diary)

Nah don’t agree…..the mental thing of having openers come out and bat 5-10overs at the end of a day is much worse.

No disrespect Whuffer, But I'll take Allan Borders views on captaincy over yours.... ;)

Your wrong mate

Headingly was the fourth test in that Ashes and we were 2-0 up in the series. A draw was going to secure the ashes against an England team on the ropes. Makes sense in that situation.

Completely different situation here, this is our one moment in the series that we might get to win the thing

The longer we bat, the more the pitch will open up.
Our best chance of winning is getting 20 wickets day four and five.
My moneys on a draw.

I'm not wrong. I didn't make the decision to declare at 'Eadingly 28 years ago. I

ABs decision was designed to enhance the win not the draw....

Play on
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

My main point is that Australia has pretty much refused to use the follow in recent time including the most recent test to which it’s easy to say batting on cost us the win

Then all of a sudden we go to Karachi and are going to potentially bowl for 3 days straight in 30+ degree weather. But you would want to win with the next test beginning in 4 days after, imagine being the field for 3 not getting the win and the losing the toss and being in the field again…..we will be cooked.

If this works it’s a master stroke but goes against the grain of what we have done in recent times and could hurt us in the long run.

I'm also in the 'Former Australian captain Allan Border knows a thing or two about test captaincy' camp. Keep them out there for as long as possible.

What a run out by Swepson

Funnily enough the batsmen had to run around silly leg who was on his hands and knee
