Day 5 is perhaps the most important days of cricket for Australia for 20+ years
If they cant win with this very good team against a reasonable Pakistan team it could be devastating

To be in this position
AU 9/556 DEC
PA 148
AU 2/97 DEC
PA were then 2/21

To not win at 2/21 onwards could potentially become a psychological disaster
The sub continent is simply not a frontier where Australian teams dominate

Pakistan have been mauled until the Shafique /Babar unbroken 171 run partnership
For PA to get to back into the equation with one partnership is of deep concern

Ive been watching 9 days in this series without too much enthusiasm
But day 10 has got me really really interested

I have to ask the safooty expert
Locky should I be concerned AU wont win this match ?

I really hope Pakistan go for the win and dont just potter around, they certainly havent stood still in this partnership

1st hour today will set the tone i think, Mal i said earlier Australia would not take 20 wickets in this test, may i for once be right ;)

If they last the overs they will win, Babar will be the catalyst and he scores brisk enough to see them get the 3.5 an over required, our spirit will be broken if he's still there halfway through the middle session.

Do we lack the mental toughness? Is this a side affect from not having Langer around?

As much as I understood the need to move him on I think we need someone in the middle to some degree, maybe Ronald is too soft? Maybe our group is a little fragile.

I think what we have seen in recent years is that teams are getting harder and harder to bowl out especially when the only result they are playing for is a draw.

Batsmen are just so professional these days, they face 1000's of 1000's of balls a week, they have bowling machines that can pretty much do anything, they have pitches that recreate pitches from around the world, they have video they can refer to. There isn't to many out and out bunnies getting around either. The old days of 7 out all out are well truly gone. I also don't think the pitches deteriorate anywhere near as much as they did 5-10-20 years ago.

Really think there will be a further shift of thought when it comes to declarations and teams will be looking for more time than ever before. Obviously Australia have had plenty of time this test and I think it will be the norm is teams will look to set up with at least 5 sessions to bowl teams out rather than the 3.5 like in yesteryear.

Bowling teams out isn't just and Australia issue either we even saw the lowly ranked West Indies hold on super easy against England.in the last test. 4/147 off 70 overs to survive the draw with no problems at all. Even the old theory 100 overs to bowl a team out wouldn't of helped England.

We saw in the South Africa vs India series that 2 of the 3 tests were won by the team batting fourth.

In saying that I hope we come out and skittle the Pakis in a couple of sessions.

Holding catches will certainly help. Smithy had a couple very hard ones this test, but the one in the bread basket was a doozy. Snaffle a few wickets and they could crumble. Babar certainly the key for Pakistan

Some of the dullest cricket I've ever witnessed.

If not for the people in the Sensodyne bay munching on ice blocks and the people writing on the signs in the tea tent I wouldn't be watching.

All said and done, I'm confident that we'll wrap it up by the start of the 3rd quarter of the footy, there will be enough dodgy deliveries for some to sneak through their defences and once Ali Babar is out they will fold.

I know we saw them fold in the first innings but I honestly think this team is a different gravy to the previous sides we have seen from Pakistan.

Unless there on the punt again haha

Hope I’m wrong and we wrap it up by 630
