Gout-
Back
Intercostal

Gout medications have improved over the years
Prednesilone is a BIG pain relief for me

Ive done the intercostal 3 times playing cricket
As gazzagroundedmagoo has posted, the simple things like coughing laughing farting can cause grief

Gaz Ive mildly strained that muscle many times as well
What works for me for minor strains is to ice up the area ASAP

The other thing that might help is to place pillows either side of your body in bed to reduce side movements during the night
I actually put heavy books on the pillows for rigidity

The most important thing you can do NOW
Do not read any of Lockys or LaughingMcqueens posts in best jokes ...you must avoid laughing

Eeeek! I've heard that is as close to child birth as a bloke would feel.

Must be a spin out hearing it ting into the bowl.

According to my health records some level of something I have suggests I should have severe gout, my doctor couldn't believe how active I am, I don't even notice any discomfort but he put me on tablets anyway.

Gout
OOOUCH !

I recall the first time I got it
I got hit on the toe by a cricket bowl bowled by one of Booneys WYC mates
His name was Paris, and like LaughingMcqueen a left hand bowler

I was still in pain days later
GP said i didnt have a broken toe, blood tests confirmed GOUT
In the 2nd GP consult it went like this
" Im in so much pain, i cant walk , the bed blanket on my toe was very painful"

the GP pulled out his prescription pad
The first was for a a pain killer
The second one for Viagra
What the...

" Doc I understand the prescription for a pain killer , but why Viagra?"
He replied
" To keep the blanket off your toe."

Sorry Gazzagroundedmagoo !

Yep Kidney stones, not much fun.

Perforated Bowel was up there too, double me over in pain, emergency op to fix that one, and a 10 day stint in the RAH.

Tooth abscess.

Felt it coming on the Friday of a long weekend.

Spent the entire weekend in bouts of agony - chowing down two different sorts of painkiller at a time to try and get some respite. Ain't not a thing you can do about it. You can't rub it, you can't apply heat or cold to it - it just HURTS.

Was on the blower to the dentist as soon as they opened on the Tuesday and had the bastard torn out of my gob as soon as they could squeeze me in.

Tore my cruciate ligament off the bone of my knee when 21, full knee reco and 4 days in hospital back then.

Despite most of my body letting me down at some point, Ive had very little back pain, on the rare occasions when I have its horrible and feel sorry for anyone that has these ongoing issues

I once took my wife to a restaurant on our honeymoon
The waiter came up and was scratching his anal
I asked
"Mate have you got piles?"
He replied
" No sir only what's on the menu ..."

Yeah OK not my best gag

Ive had piles
I found the general pain was bearable
But when you have a crapp its World War 5

For me, rupturing my kidney and having to wait 6 hours for it to be removed via emergency surgery. Pain I hope no one else has to ever endure.

Chap I know ignored that very thing, he ended up in ICU for 3 days, wife was told he may not pull through, the abscess had burst and he'd gone septic. Very lucky man.

I used to get Cluster headaches - related to Migraine but come and go - until I worked out that drinking Shiraz was the main trigger. Gave up Shiraz and it ceased happening. Dental pain is next worst on my list. I had an abscess under a tooth recently. The root canal job has been done and I have to front up shortly to have the tooth checked and resealed.

Otherwise only minor things like a Collar bone breakage when I was aged 5, a fall damaging my right Sacro-iliac joint some years ago, and one episode of gout after a trip to India. (I enjoyed the curries, but overlooked the fact that Indians use viscera as well as muscular meats in their cooking and developed a temporary elevation of my Uric Acid levels.

My best friends mum had the same headaches but hers were triggered by orange juice, of all things..

Ruptured achilles in 2002 was pretty bad.
Had to walk around Hong Kong for a week with it

Still not as bad as a ruptured testicle when I was 7 when some kid kneed me in the nuts
