Is this because of the new variant?

Melbourne airport should be a great spot for Covid, never seen an airport as packed as it was today. Rabbitohs players were all there. Back against South Sydney next week!

If I don't start getting symptons soon after being around over 100k of people in Melbourne on the weekend in 2 sporting arenas, several packed pubs, a very busy airport twice and a couple of full planes I'll assume I did have it in January and didn't know at the time.

Mine had close contacts at school Friday, at a breakfast Saturday, and her soccer game Sunday. Wasn't going to dodge it this time.

Yeah im in the same boat. Pretty much everyone around me and in my workplace has had it at some point but i'm yet to have any symptoms and have never tested positive from any PRC or RAT tests that ive been required to take.

I'm presuming I got it at some point and never knew.

Daughter & I tested positive last Monday, inevitable with her being in Reception and me being a primary-school teacher.

Apart from a very small cough, she was absolutely fine and has returned to school today. I'm still getting over it.

Other 2 family members have surprisingly tested negative and had no symptoms throughout, despite us not isolating from them (apart from me sleeping in a separate bed due to coughing etc), but they'll still have to isolate until Tuesday of next week. I understand the reasoning behind the 14-day period, but it does seem a bit silly with almost all other restrictions being lifted now. If the isolation period for positive cases can be decreased by 3 days, surely the close contact period can be also be reduced by 3 days.

You do know the vaccine is to prevent deaths not catching it right? Anyway i'm sure you did know, but ignore it and find these wanky websites for your tin foil hat theories.
