Say it every year, shits me how the instinct gets coached out of the players, Weightman should have snapped that instead of hanballing to Bont. Bread and Butter for a player with natural goal instincts.

I said the same thing. Odd. IMO he shouldn't have called for it, knowing he was on his left and Weightman was on his right. Mind you after the previous 2 shots Weightman had he might've been a bit gun shy.

Great win for the blues but the big test is next week IMO. Previously we might've had a good win here and there and then lost to the lowly ranked teams (North, Hawthorn last year for instance). If we can get past the Hawks next week then I'll start feeling a bit more confident about our progress.

You couldn't possibly trust Carlton but geez there list ticks a fair few boxes that you need in modern footy to win a flag.

1. Big bodied beast of a midfielder who can take a game away in a quarter (Cripps)
2. Rolls Royce midfielder (Walsh)
3. Big boy forward with a presence (McKay)
4. Speed in the backlines (Saad/Williams)
5. Real good Intercept mark in defence (Weitering)

They had all of that last year.

Their big improvement comes from moving on Betts, Murphy, Petrovski Seaton, Casboult

6. Team defence.
7. Forward pressure.

They've been massive gaps in previous years. Opposition waltzed out of our forward line and through our backline like it was swiss cheese. No point having all of the top 5 without the bottom two.

I'm not getting carried away just yet.
