Agree 100%
Maybe if they hold their catches they’ll be half a chance.

If you can’t roll a team on day 5 with the best ranked bowler in the world on any pitch then you don’t deserve to win

I think we are still a decent shot. The fact the Pakis are a decent chance to win is only going to help us rather than them shutting up shop.

Its great for test cricket to see a genuine 50/50 final day to a series.

Us Australians always brag about playing aggressive cricket...…….this is aggressive cricket, albeit we could have had a bigger lead with more intent.

It’s setup to be the perfect test match.
Going down to the last day for a result.

Not the crap we serve up in Australia where games are over in 3-4 days.
We are as bad as any country when it comes to preparing pitches that suit us.

We will get numerous chances through day 5 and if we take them we will win the Test. If we drop them then it’s putting us in danger of dropping the series - It’s in our hands…. One thing to note is the Paki’s haven’t gone anything close to scoring 280 in a day this series so if they start now they are also going away from what they know and it opens up. I admire Cummins for backing in his team to get the job done - All it takes is one wicket and things can change quickly.

I don't think we would've been giving ourselves enough time to bowl them out, the timing was fine IMO, we just plodded along with the bat.

351 from 117 overs was a very generous declaration given some of their talent with the bat, comes down to Babar IMO.

A draw would've retained the cup.

Nah, play to win,
playing to draw is what they do in that funny round ball game.

It is possible to 'play to win' without setting a very gettable target. There is a middle ground. And 351 on these pitches is going to be hard to defend. You can play aggressive cricket without being silly.

Re soccer, they might 'play to draw' a particular match, but only as part of 'playing to win' a trophy.

We hold the trophy, and if Pakistan are happy to serve up roads and allow us to keep it, then we should oblige them.

Pretty much what I was alluding to.

The Paki's are either very good or very poor.

When they've been on top they have scored 14/1419 from 498 overs.

When they have struggled they've amassed 17/178 from 63 overs.

With our inconsistent attack 3 per over doesn't really cut it over 117 overs.

Last 3 Australian declaration targets[ my thoughts]
416 Adelaide Oval v England- on that pitch with that attack and with a pink ball and with inclement weather- too late
506 2nd test v Pakistan - the impossible target- had enuff time- very few excuses for not winning
351 On a pitch still playing well , with 3 proven front line Test match bowlers - too early- too risky- i would have gone to about 387

The 351 has made this a brilliant game to watch on day 5
In view of this target it makes the Adelaide Oval declaration a puzzler
The only reason I can now think of the 416 lateness is that Pat Cummins and co consulted with Marshall, Spurrier and Stevens

278 needed , all 4 results possible
Locky did you get any sleep ?
