Thanks DOC just looked on SANFL site we are not going with the rule .

While the AFL announced that the medical substitute player could play State League football the same weekend, regardless of whether they are activated or not, SANFL’s current rule does not allow this.

However, should the medical substitute player not participate in the AFL match, they will be considered as an emergency player and therefore permitted to play in the SANFL that same weekend.

Matt Rose will again lead the Panthers for a fourth year, second as sole skipper, in a familiar leadership line up.

Since coming across to the Panthers in 2014, after the realignment of the Magpies and the Power, Rose has been a consistent member of the leadership group.

Daniel Healy and Leading Teams, who develop high performing teams and leaders, have worked with the playing group to help identify the trademarks they wanted their leaders to show and those who they believed best typified them.

Senior Coach Jarrad Wright is confident Rose will again be the best person to continue to lead the playing group and club.

"Matt has been a great leader both on and off the field for many years now, and is the embodiment of our key beliefs and trademarks within the club"

"He drives the standards expected of those who represent the South Adelaide Football Club."

"We are really fortunate to have a strong group of leaders at our club, and none more so than Matt."

When talking about being named as captain for the fourth season, Rose said it was a huge honour and is really excited about the year ahead.

"It's a huge honour to again be able to lead this great club into what will a really exciting year"

"With so many fresh faces, it's been fantastic to get around the new players and help them understand what representing the South Adelaide Football Club is about"

"As a playing group we a pretty clear about our goals and the energy and connection around the group is really strong."

"We are as hungry as ever to put us in the best position for success."

The leadership group is unchanged from 2021, other than the retirements of Alex Cailotto and Anthony Biemans. (So 2 changes then!)

A couple of those listed are unlikely to be fit.
Reckon Tyson Richard might get a chance also, meaning a possible 8 debutantes are set to play in round one.

I'm one who doesn't think we will improve as much as other think but I would be very surprised if we cant get within 10 goals.

Generally we have started seasons pretty well abit like the gold coast in the AFL. We will come with a tad of confidence after some decent pre season outings. South have as many ins and out as us and may take some time to gel.

If we aren't within four goals and not in the game for 3/4 I would be a bit disappointed.

Playing at their best I would say:

Lange
Habel
Nietschke
Grant
Hoskin

I reckon Pisani still misses out.

As "at their best" was mentioned

Nietschke, Linke, Lange, Hoskin, Grant, Habel would be walk ups (lange would only play 1 week then miss the next 4)

Reed is an under 18 but if not drafted has potential to be a very good league footballer

Max Fraser & Ed McCabe would be lucky to play B grade local footy - i guess when daddy played league football at the club you get to train with the seniors, both terrible

Borlace & Pisani reserves
