What happens if a significant number or whole team gets wiped out with COVID this week?

Can the association reschedule games?

I think the changes made mid year only accounted for abandonment and draws?

Ever seen an umpire over turn an LBW decision, with the player willingly walking off? You have now. Please explain.

So with all the rumoured covid cases, is the Section 1 GF going ahead?

The Section 1 gf tomorrow is an absolute farce. Basically the entire Rambler side is out with covid and the Association have decided to play on. What an absolute joke.

What's the issue?

What's the difference between most of the team being out with gastro compared to covid?

Would the game still go ahead?
The answer is yes.

Also, ask the question why did a Ramblers player play on the weekend while he was (apparently) meant to be in isolation?

Play on I say and I'm a neutral.

Gastro, blokes are sick. The rambler players arent even sick. They tested negative from what i heard.

What was the Exec supposed to do? Abandon the game and give them the flag? Agreed - play on. Truly great teams win through adversity.

So give a valid reason why the game shouldn't go ahead.

It's unlucky. I'll pay that. But that is life unfortunately.

What is your alternative solution?

Ramblers from what ive been told wanted a postponement not abandoning. Ramblers have 3 sides in grand finals tomorrow and they dont want to harm their b or c grade sides. Have to pull in lower players.

A gf win against a team with half their side full of d and e grade players is a hollow victory.

If the Ramblers get up it will be a very special win then.
Good luck to both sides and all clubs in ASCA grand finals tomorrow.

Pull the B graders up then rather than playing D and E graders.

Im sure they saw that as an option. But i guess they decided to respect the efforts those blokes have made as a team and allow them the chance to win their gf.

from a source - 6 x A grade Ramblers players contracted COVID during the week. Association was made aware of the developing situation on Tuesday & was kept updated with cases as they returned PCRs. Ramblers made no request to cancel the game rather suggested a delay by a week over a draw (as outlined in the covid rules!) to give a decent game

The association provided advice at 6.21pm that the Ramblers must play.

How is a club with 3 consecutive grades in a grand final supposed to make a decision on how to move forward find 6 suitable players less than 16 hours priot to the game.

This is an absolute farce on so many levels. Rules were made to avoid this. I hope the ramblers give it a go and roll Keswick.

Let’s not gloss over this rather important fact. Acting against SA Health close contact requirements is probably a larger story than 6 players coming back positive and unable to play. No repercussions? Not the first time their club have been flagged for acting against protocol.

It’s Ramblers competition, we just play in it. Well done to the exec committee for standing up to the Ramblers.

Where in the SMR does it say the Ramblers are entitled to an abandonment/draw?

“…the Executive will have these special powers: To declare any match abandoned as a draw and decide which players can play in other matches. To authorise a replacement player for day2 of a 2day game or where a player must leave a 1day game for isolation.”
