Wont matter who captains England at present with their batting
Any team that has an allrounder batting at 5[Stokes] and a wicket keeper who is not even keeping at 6 [Bairstow] is likely to struggle

A better skip will make a slight difference as Root is very reactive but this team just has huge issues. Crawley is the only half competent opener in the country and he's not quite ready consistently, we have no logical choice at number 4, Jonny has been the best keeper/batter we had but they had to ruin that, we have absolutely no decent spinners and then we decide to not pick our best bowlers. Although I think with Archer, wood and Robinson fit we have a decent pace attack. All of this added with outrageously poor decisions in selections, etc over the past 2 years has led to some horrid results.

I read in this test matches match report on Cricinfo that it's the first time since 1970 that SA have played 2 specialist spinners in their 11 in a home test.

A bit embarassing for the ball tracking team in South Africa (one goes back to remember Kohli speaking to the stump mike?) This time, Ebadot Hossain thought he had the no.10 left-handed debutant Williams out lbw after Erasmus gave it out, with upon review ball tracking had three reds and out. Only problem is, the computer had the batsman registered as a right hander, and so the pitching outside should have been green. Ebadot was going off at Erasmus, once the error was corrected, so he had to calmly explain what happened.

Ebadot has something you don't see everyday, a batting average less than 1

18 innings - 9no's - 4 runs - average .88

Bangas all out for 298

SA lead by 69

Pea hearts like Rabada and Markram playing in the IPL rather than represent their country in a test series. They would never play another test if I was in charge

Agreed Jim, frustratingly poor, money talks!
I refuse to watch/read/listen to anything to do with the IPL.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz is back on the field after about 5 overs, after being taken off the ground on a stretcher, because he was hit flush on the ribs by a cut shot. Fielding at backward point, Erwee cuts the ball, but Mehidy thinks the ball is heading to perhaps cover, only to get the shock of his life as the ball cannons into him.
