R4 Eagles v Glenelg

Postby DOC » Tue Apr 19, 2022 6:20 pm

ANZAC Day, 2.10

Both sides coming off a win but it has to be said that Glenelgs comeback win against a near full strength Adelaide with only 15 fit players and some very ordinary umpiring was probably the best performance this century. Also kicked into the wind for 3 quarters.

Eagles always hard to beat at Woodville. last 4 at this venue 2 each. Last 8 games all venues 4 each.

Glenelg are not the $1.10 flag favs for nothing.

Glenelg by 10 goals.

* Can all deflecting posts mention the perceived umpiring bias please.

Quietly confident that we'll win this to justify our $1.10 April Premiers favouritism.

Eagles rebuilding after some key losses from the last time we met.

Our expectant win on Monday will count for 2/5ths of F*** All come the real premiership month of September when the Eagles and Sturt will be up and about due to having the 1st and 3rd best defences so far and are above us with forward efficiency and defensive efficiency based on the Rd 4 stats report from the SANFL.

100% sure Sheedy wont lose any sleep if he loses this game.

Glenelg's last home and away loss against a dinkum team was at Woodville, way back in round 12 of the 2020 season.

Saw the new Woodville lights last week, they look good, are any league games programmed at night there?

Ah yep, twilightish though, great for the league to have another option at night, although doesn't seem to be too many in the early rounds this year, which always seems a no brainer to me.

I can understand a coach not wanting to commit to a team too early, but TEN players named on the interchange? Sheesh...

With Redden out, the balance of the side isn't quite right yet. Redden and Ballenden yet to play in a game together yet due to injury which is the preferred option. Missing the goal crumbing skills of Stengle and Poole. Williams needs to step into thus role and showed promise with 3 goals last week. Needs to do this against a top side though. Bays should be too good but expect the Eagles to put in a spirited showing.
