Do we really want that to continue though? After 20 years, what has it delivered for the west?

As Biden said, how can you expect American soldiers to fight for a country that won't fight for itself?

Surely after Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, the futility of pro-longed occupations is clear by now?

I'd rather America's 'power and influence' be put to better use. Not that I want to see more war, but it would be better IMO if any future overseas American military action were concentrated on protecting liberal democracies (e.g. Taiwan) whose people are actually interested in defending themselves - notwithstanding the tragedy of Afghanistan and implications of Taliban rule on women.

Or sort there own backyard?

I see the American Spud Joe Biden is getting really popular now especially after the debacle of the American withdrawal from Afghanistan.

A lot of us knew he was a spud even before he supposedly got voted in.

Well the only alternative was another bout of Trump.
Good thing Joe did get voted in given the choice offered.
Hopefully next time around neither of them are contenders....

Hey apachie, I was thinking of starting a international political thread, not just to cover the US. Assume you would be interested as well? Only asking as I don't want to start and thread and just be talking to myself.

The insufferable, pampered socialist AOC wears a ridiculous dress that displays her marketing gimmick slogan 'Tax the rich' to a Met gala where tickets average $30K per person. Describes herself as a 'working class woman'.

The hypocrisy and unintended hilarity of leftists knows no bounds.

Dems look like getting torn a new one in the midterms.
If the Republicans get a hold of the House and the Senate in the midterms then Biden is a lame duck for the final 2 years of his term

The orange idiot wants to "pause the constitution" to overturn the election he "won" in 2020.

His party stands behind the constitution and what it represents. He's completely unhinged. It's brilliant.
