Most sides would struggle when they have nearly half their league team out due to injury. However, this does give a huge opportunity for our younger boys to grab their chance and show that they are capable of league football. Having seen our side, I am not so confident of a win tonight but certainly expect a red hot go from all players.
Cheers

That's the problem we don't have that many league players out.
Hoskin,McCormack,Barreau and Nietschke are the only players of league quality out at the moment.
We started the season with a list that is lacking in quality .
So it's no surprise with a few injuries our side looks ordinary.

I would add Linke, Launer, Thompson, Tippins, Neagle, Pisani and Borlace to that list. All of these have either played league football this year or are likely to before the season is over. Admittedly, that is Central District league quality, probably not league quality of the top sides (apart from Linke and maybe Launer). ;)

Deakin and Kendall the two to drop out of the extended interchange bench named and playing ressies. Don’t see Reeves playing in the ressies as named - do we read anything into that?

We read into it that Reeves got a reprieve and playing in the As. Judging by a couple of early ferocious attacks on the man/ball he has received the message! Dogs have been forced to throw the magnets around and are having a decent crack. Down just by 1pt at quarter time. Boyd looming as a match winner at this stage, dominating ruck although Beuchner doing well around stoppages as well

It’s where he played most of his footy when he first broke into the team and was always a creative and opportunist contributor.

Given our lack of instinctive forwards I’d be playing him up front permanently and leaving the run and creativity from half back to Neagle.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul but to me our front half efficiency is the glaring area that lets us down more often than not. Would also give Monty a run up forward as well -he’s the best contested mark at the club and pretty agile for a taller type…
Much better effort tonight against an equally wasteful Norwood who should have won by more… yet might have lost had we taken some opportunities to hit the front early in the last…

The boys had a fair dinkum crack.

The defence Llewellyn Iles Monty stood up.

Beuckner crashed in although undersized, Reeves best game .

Legs were to good in the end

Hard slog for 3 & a 2/3 quarters. Doggies didn't make if easy for us although our bad kicking for goal (as per usual) didn't make it easy for us either. Thankfully 'Legs managed to hold on to the lead in the last 10 or so minutes of the last quarter.

And now the customary photo of the scoreboard. ;)

The boys had a crack but we will never win games with the way we play ,we simply dont score .
5,5 & 8 goals in the last three games and 9 games last season where we kicked 7 goals or less .

Boyd deserved all 6 votes tonight, he was amazing.
Poor kicking at goal probably kept the margin closer than it should have but happy to take the win

Really impressed with Central's tackling.

Norwood players under pressure most times but still tried silly short handballs instead of going long.

Christ our forward setup needs working on.

Hopefully we'll have a better second half to the season when we get back players from the injured list,
Billy McCormack, Justin Hoskin, Marcus Barreau, Shay Linke, Aaron Nietschke, Luke Habel, Harry Grant, Jaxon Neagle, Darcy Pisani and now Blake Launer would make a big difference (I hope).

Much better and intent this week albeit a loss is still a loss especially against a side we would have given ourselves a chance against.

A little bit undisciplined at times but there needed to be a reaction after the Sturt game so happy with that. If we can keep the aggression but add the discipline we will be a much better side.

Obviously missed having a ruckmen. Was frustrating watching Connor McLean and Jackson Kelly play decent games for Norwood. Sadly that's indicative of our club over the last five years.

We will be doing well to get 3-4 wins this year.

How did Aiden Grace perform after his outburst on facebook, surely showed the fans how much he loves the club and playing for thommo by getting a few kicks.

Liked Tyson Richards game. He presents and is prepared to do the hard yards. 8 tackles from a key forward is a good return.
Overall our tackling pressure was very good, but the Ruck issue was a major problem with Boyd dominant. Also thought Rokhar was damaging.

We lack the polished footballer, not helped with quiet games from leaders such as T Schiller, Weaver and Grace.

Carpenter was the latest youngster to get a game at the Senior level; he has certainly grown over the last 12 months and is a solid likely looking prospect.
I reckon Lewis Cowham might be next in line for a league debut.

Well it is the scoreboard

On a side note, why have Norwood kept the manual scoreboard instead of just migrating the score/time to the video scoreboard? Especially in recent times when it appears there is less and less upkeep of the old scoreboard (ie for most of the AFLW games, the old 'around the grounds' name plates were used instead of full name plates).

Is it a technical limitation, or something else keeping the old faithful scoreboard going?
