I wonder what they classify as a tackle. The whole match was just a rolling scrum.

Good question. Using the AFL as a reference (yeah I know, no AFL in the SANFL..), the most tackles by a team in that league is 155, and 258 for both teams combined.

Puts the 191 for South, and 327 combined into some perspective.

They really need to do some drainage work on Woody Oval, was there a month ago and it was squelchy after 2mm of rain, there are hollow patches that are now the mud pits as the water can't get off the oval, barring the cricket pitches every other oval is fine

Looks like CD have revised their stats and found another 12 tackles. 339 now the official tackle count

Stupid, silly and self-indulgent football.

Watched a replay of that missed shot and it's incomprehensible how one could possibly miss from there.

Lucky to be a point. Menzel's change of mind left foot kick from 15m out was a distant second bad decision.

It looked pretty diabolical Woody Oval. Most SANFL venues struggle with the requirements put on them. I think all clubs need second ovals at least for training purposes, and money invested in oval drainage etc. I know Unley Oval is being dug up end of year for works after the council got hold of government grant money to undertake the expensive work. Cricket pitches are not good either but not easy to move out the clubs.

Very courageous effort from South, so much experience missing.
As the game went on the bigger Eagles bodies in the midfield wore us down, and a few smaller South bodies got crushed in the packs
But to never give up and nearly snatch it with that late chance was a performance South supporters should be proud of
The missed goal aside, Sammy Overall laying 19 tackles was a fair effort considering the ball only went forward of centre half a dozen times in the second half - thought he was South's most likely looking forward
Credit to the Eagles, they got the job done
Shall we call it character building....... I know...it's been a while!!!!!

Amazing that one of the Menzel's was still clean at the end of the game.

Seems rather ironic that the ground got lights given the oval's a mess and the visitors coaches box (that got moved into a couple of old corporate boxes in the Jarman stand) is a joke.

Surely those two things should've been addressed first before the luxury of lights.

The coaches boxes have both been upgraded prior to this season.
Trust the process.

Actually enjoyed watching the game as it is a real novelty to have a real slog on TV.

Souf had their chances, and that Overall miss, oh dear.

I wonder what the goal umpire was thinking. Were his eyes deceiving him, had he made the wrong call.? Overall could not do that again even if he tried.
