Interesting no concussion test on Jonas or Butters with a clear head clash. Please explain.
Hang on if you win the clearances doesn't that mean it worked?

Isn't that the point of stoppages?

Who gives a shit if you don't get any hitouts if win the the clearances.

Playing the extra mid meant they won more of the ball, the only reason they lost was that they couldn't hit a target all night.

Good call. I thought Finlayson did pretty well and offered more than what Hayes has delivered in recent games. Nankervis had some good moments in the last quarter, similar to what he did in the 2020 Prelim final when Lycett played. So, having a "recognised" ruckman doesn't guarantee anything. It will be interesting to see if they do the same against the Swans.

If you're going to go with no ruckman then you have to hurt them offensively. I didn't see that happen at all, all night.

For instance, the first kick in of the game - Nank ran on to an uncontested chest mark! That's not what it's about I wouldn't have thought.

BTW, I'm one that considers ruckman irrelevant, depending on your midfield set up.

As someone said above, Caro's going to be all over the head clash.
It was a beauty to be fair, and for Jonas to stay down, (who is a tough c***) it surely rattled both of them.
I'm assuming the doc would've reviewed the footage and must've cleared them from that????
Wouldn't surprise me if there were fractures to one or both.

Connor Rozee, I've said it before could be anything but geez by foot was yuk!

Butler, bloody hell was he on yippee beans.
Richmond's hand skills under pressure were elite!

I didn’t see the game however I open Facebook and my entire feed is Port supporters complaining about umpires. Were the umpires that bad? Frees were pretty even but I know that’s not really relevant

There is so much education about concussion and head injuries at grassroots level these days, coaches need to complete training before being signed off for the year, yet something like last night happens and all OK? You just simply have to take the conservative approach no matter what stage of the game and at what level.

They both should have never come back to the ground, I think it needs to get to the stage where any head knock is an automatic out of the game.

Mate that is 100% appropriate at community level and even SANFL underage level where there is no Doctor available to make an appropriate informed medical judgement on the safety as of the player

but at AFL level and SANFL league level where there is a club Doctor on the bench, a common sense risk management approach can be applied.

Dont confuse the system to manage concussion at the professional/semi professional level (six -seven years undergraduate training, post graduate specialised study in sports medicine and multiple years of experience) compared to amateur sport (trainers with <100 hrs of vocational weekend training, ongoing certificate level re-accredtiation (if lucky) and practical sports trainers experience).

Port Adelaide did nothing wrong last night in how they manged the players and as we speak they will be monitoring them in case of any potential latent issues that weren't evident last night.

Gets Ports doctor in the RAH ED, would end ramping with how fast he can assess players.

Bull shit, Nothing wrong with the assessing in the ED that's done within four hours

Get him in the wards to facilitate discharges to create capacity in the system so patients in the ED can go to the ward, and then those in the in the ED waiting room or back of an ambulance can get t into the ED.

Not sure everyone in SA understands that concept

But anyways I can see on four certain wins for Port coming up in their next 10 games, Gold coast home, Adelaide, GWS and Essendon. 50:50 with Collingwood and Sydney. Not sure 11 wins will get you 8th spot in 2022.

When Ken, when??

There, thread back on track

Everything you have said is 100% correct, however now there is a head clash this weekend in local footy, there will be doubt cause at the highest level 2 players were still OK to play. Its the optics it delivers that it may still be OK to play a player in the lower leagues after a head clash.

The message the game is trying to (rightfully) spread is not helped with last nights decisions. The AFL need to come out and support and explain the decision ASAP if it was the correct call.

Its simple really mate, head knock in community footy you're off.

Head knock at State league or AFL level, get assessed by the credentialed medical professional at the ground and make an informed clinical assessment as to if the player can continue or needs to stay off.

No confusion at all.
