Great days cricket, England should be well on top but 5 dropped catches didnt help their cause, wicket looks a belter for batting

Mitchell dropped on 3 by Root, was a regulation catch at first slip and Mitchell has made the most of his life. Watching the highlights he took a liking to Jack Leach but who doesn't really, Leach hardly ever looks threatening.

No wonder the poms have a slow over-rate when they have a team meeting before each ball.

10 overs in the first 50 mins today, after 87 in 6 and a half hours of play yesterday (play finished at 6.30pm).

I hope they get sanctioned for it but I doubt it as I haven't seen any news on them getting penalised for their slow over rate in the first test.

Apart from a Darryl Mitchell bomb that ended up in some lady's pint of Thatchers what other delays weren't out of England's control. Certainly wasn't taking wickets....

Asking the umpires to check the shape of the ball every 5 minutes isn't going to help them much either

Spewing he has given Leach a wicket.
Partnership of 236 between Mitchell and Blundell is now the highest fifth wicket partnership for NZ in test cricket.

27 overs in the first session, 1/94 the score for the session.
