Three key points come to mind with this:

1: I'm glad social media wasn't around when I was in my 20's.

2: I wish I was 20 odd years younger.

3: I wish I was better at football.

Am I missing something in this story...…..

Did he not tell Collingwood he was going overseas???? If I did tell them and they let him how could he possibly come under scrutiny.

Me personally, I wouldn't be going overseas on a bender mid season...…..currently im not really having any more than 2-3 drinks a week whilst its footy season despite being a pleb b grader. If I was on 500K plus a year I would happily accept I cant be going on drinking binges at any point throughout the year.

If I was his teammate I would have hoped he could have found better ways to spend his bye week given that Collingwood are on the rise, right in the middle of the season, chance of finals etc. Albeit if he comes back and plays to his best I don't think anyone will care what he does on his breaks.

Yep, apparently and they let him go. Absolute genius move by Collingwood. He's out of contract at the end of the year and now potential buyers are dropping like flies, anyone still interested is dropping their offer and Collingwood get to keep him on a shit load less than they would have been planning for. Super move. Let's face it, he's not an A grader and talk of 5 x $800k is just stupid, if they're happy to manage him off field ( they had Swan, Shaw, Thomas remember! ) then they get to keep him and pay actual market value for him, probably 4 x $500k.

Do you feel that this was a bit of by play by Collingwood knowing it might devalue him and they keep him for less?

I thought he's been ok over the last few weeks. Problem is he can't be in the same the as Walker.

That's there issue at the moment. He actually provides a good target when Walker is out of the side.

Walking off at half time with a broken collar bone in a sling Brynn Teakle was approached by Ken Hinkley, Teakle quipped to Hinkley "That was fun while it lasted".

Absolutely I did completely leg less .

But I wasn’t on 500k a year with a commitment to 80k members and supporters

Like I said as I’ve got older im understanding and accepting the correlation between better performance and healthy body much greater. Wish I didn’t take that for granted in my 20’s and early 30’s

You and I would've been lapping it up if we were in the same boat.

Half these dickheads in the media are absolute hypocrites, I know a lad that went to Cancun with one of them after a season on an AFL list, him and a couple of lads were given a room key and told to go to it, they opened the door to a room full of high class hookers.

Behaviour has improved immensely but some players just know how to hide it better, have a closed room party where all phones are locked away.

The fact that Collingwood knew he was going should have made this a non story. The photos of him with girls is exactly what every male would be doing.

If I knew now what I didn’t know back then, offer me 500k a year to play a sport I love and I’ll never drink again.

I’m more suprised Collingwood allowed it

Smart by collingwood I reckon.
Tested him out to see if he'd screw up.
He did, so his value has now dropped.

Love him as a player, but I'd be OK to let him go to another club if he doesn't accept the contract put before him.

Collingwood has pulled a $3.2m contract offer off the table for mid-forward Jordan De Goey following his Bali nightclub incident, reports The Age.

The club and De Goey were reportedly in talks on a deal that would’ve kept De Goey at the club for two years, with a trigger for another two years, on $800,000 per season.

But the contract was withdrawn on the weekend as videos of his activities on holiday emerged.

De Goey is an above average player but is in no way worth 800k a season, thought pies would have learnt to not dish out ridiculous contracts after the Treloar situation.
