Good deal, will grab a few of those.

Had a hit at Blackwood this morning, 56 on the front, including a 3 hole stretch of 9,9,8  thankfully got my shit back together and a sound 45 on the back 9 made me a lot happier than I was.

Lady Bay yesterday, got it on a pretty calm day which was nice, greens aren't as good as they have been but still a great spot and challenge.

Playing with a sore ankle, still recovering from gout I started bogey, par, par, par - as usual it feel apart from there 45 on the front then 53 on the back as the wind started and my form waned big time.

Dropped 9 shots on the 4 par 3's  seemed to be able to hit my irons well on the fairways, but horrible off the tee.

Enjoyable day all the same.

As someone who drives past the course a bit, what makes the greens good / not so good (apart from funnelling any putt from any part of the green into the hole!) I can't tell from the road as I'm driving along. :)

When the course first started the greens down there were immaculate, almost like carpet, they maintained them for a few years but now disease has gotten to them, they are still OK, just not to the level they used to be at

Played thaxted about a month ago for the 1st time in 5 years or so...(would've been when you saw me in the car park)

Wont be going back in a hurry.. course itself is ok, just those greens need some serious work! Better options down that area IMO

im just hoping the dam has captured some of the rain!!!

im just going cos its up the road. i have no great expectations on either my game or the course.
i agree there are better options, i think they lost it a bit when the membership was basically the same as the vines and its a no brainer as to where you would rather play

So headed over to Thaxted this morning, overcast with rain threatening a chilly wind greeted us.

Course itself, not much has changed. The 2nd green now has 2 levels and not the 2 mounds with the channel in between.
Fairly clear under trees etc which is good to help find balls etc.

The golf itself wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. It was just the putting which as always let me down. We got a false sense of security on the practice green being slower than we remembered it, but on the course they were certainly as they've always been.
Finished on about 26pts.
It was a good walk.

its a strange old course Thaxted, over whelming feeling is it could be so much better with a few changes, it falls behind its southern neighbours - Flaggy. Vines & Blackwood by a reasonable margin IMO

The second hole is case in point, really weird short par 4 that misses the mark in design

McCracken this Sunday.

Future Golf Matchplay.
From what I've been told they try and match people up as close as possible to handicaps.
I like matchplay despite my game not being overly suited to it. But it should be good fun... just not looking forward to the chilly 11° which is forecast

2nd again, that’s 3 years in a row!

60 off the stick, 55 3/8 total, Damien Squires team winners with 54 3/4’s

Ended up very intoxicated and contributed plenty of cash to a great fundraiser.

First hit back after a 4 month layoff, hit a 75 off the stick at Murray Bridge (Par 68 off yellow tees admittedly). 3 birdies on the front 9!

Guarantee second up wont be anywhere near as productive.

I’m having a hit tomorrow, first up since a spell going back Easter!

Only expectation is the beer is cold at the 19th.

Given MatteeG came off a shorter spell, we expect you to atleast get to Par
