Agree. Eagles and Glenelg both playing ordinary, Crows will fall over come Finals like they normally do, so looks like a Grand Final preview next week between North and Norwood.

I bumped into Jade at Sfizio last Sunday and he was absolutely stoked about the Sturt win and was very bullish about today. I must admit I didn’t think we were a shot today so fantastic to follow progress during the day. And yes I’ll be there next week :)

I still think we are a bit off the best but am happy the way this group is gelling and whilst it’s not always pretty we do now make the opposition work for their scores

Norwood very impressive with their desperation and attack on the ball (particularly in the first half) whereas the eagles just couldn't get anything going. Our lack of height across the ground is why we won't be challenging for the Premiership unfortunately. Norwood destroyed us with their big blokes up forward and down back.

A disturbing trend in the last 3 Eagles games has been the lack of intensity. CD and N for 4 quarters each and West for 3 quarters all wanted the ball more than us. Norwood's big men exposed our lack of height big time with 19 contested marks to 7. With the lack of intensity, our poor leg speed was also exposed on the outside with Norwood playing strong rebound footy. Will be a struggle to make the 5 on the last few week's efforts. Hoile, Hardy just not up to it and Allmond not the player he was.
Luck is where opportunity meets preparation

A terrific effort from Norwood for 4 quarters. The scoreboard flattered the Eagles. The Eagles have returned from the bye poorly and after setting up their season on the back of a couple of good wins prior to the bye, they have now put themselves in a position where they’ll need to scrap just to make the 5.

Norwood outworked us with numbers at the contest. They outran us in moving the ball down the field. They out manoeuvred us in the air. On occasions the ball would be kicked high in to Norwood’s 50 and there were 3-4 Norwood players making an effort to get to the front of the pack while our defenders trailed behind. Not to mention the amount of slipping over we did. I would blame the poor state of Woodville Oval for our poor showings, but it’s the same for both sides.

The Reserves have won 4 in a row. There are some consistent contributors in that side that deserve a chance at senior footy. I would hope they’d come in with fire in the belly and back their ability if they get a chance. There were some really weak efforts today that showed the commitment is no where near where it needs to be to compete at league level, both physically and mentally. There was no spark from the lesser likes to get the side going. Minus a couple of last half runs from defence by Beecken and a couple of streaks of brilliance that we are use to from D. Menzel, we were poorly lacking today.

Norwood in cracking form and we struggled to beat them at Prospect not that long ago so should be a great game this Saturday at Norwood Oval. I might even need to come out of my winter hibernation to attend!
