Why is the VFL and WAFL streamed (for free) on the AFL website, but not the SANFL? I presume all 3 comps are also on Channel 7? We have the SANFL Now App - which is excellent btw and I'm happy to pay money for. But what is the deal with the streaming? I also see other State Leagues on Kayo etc. I would imagine only SANFL diehards or AFL recruiters fork out the money for the SANFL Now App, but any old Joe Blow could come across and form an interest in the VFL/WAFL as a free stream on the AFL website or on Kayo.

Maybe Gillon reads this thread.

interesting rumour on MMM this morning.

apparently the power have been canvassing for someone to coach their reserves in the VFL instead of the SANFL. too many restrictions on them here in SA apparently

hope its true.

This gets brought up every year. Both arent going anywhere until there is an AFL reserves comp.

Agree, things in the SANFL would have to be pretty awful for them to move on.....cost being one. What would we guess the cost to be though......

Just some real rough maths and appreciating they could get some deals but if you had 30 people (21 players + 9 support staff) travelling to Melbourne ten times a year at $100 return the cost just to fly the team would be $30k. I would also say you would need one night stay hotel room given the current climate regarding flights/cancellations etc. If you had 2 players a room for 10 away games at $100 that's another $15k.

Then presuming their might be some add on costs such as buses to and from hotel, potentially paying for players food/drinks, potentially increased staffing wages to pack up/pack down equipment etc for travel.

This is also on the presumption the AFL cant align all Power reserves games with their AFL teams, there would be cost savings if they could be aligned.

I'm afraid to ask, but what guernsey would Port wear in the VFL vs Collingwood?

Maybe a not so subtle threat to get concessions from the SANFL?

They could wear black and white but not the PB’s.
I would imagine once they go to the VFLQLDNSWACT league or a AFL reserves comp the Maggies will cease to exist though

Those harsh restrictions that has seen Port play in 3 GF’s and the Crows to be sitting equal top currently.
Must be real tough

Please bugger off, both of you, it's been a huge failure anyway!
What do they bring to the table??
But it's not about winning anyway (not to them it isn't), it's all about "grooming."

I reckon the Power reserve's side would wear the Power guernsey!
There's no need to reference The Maggies anymore,
it's not even on their reserve's guernsey anymore.

And as we answer every year The vfl is a reserves comp.

14 of the 21 teams in the vfl are afl reserves teams.

It’s a joke of a comp. I definitely wouldn’t be rushing to join it. The grass isn’t always greener as much as I’d love to see them both go they would be mad to

Port Adelaide “we will promote the league at every opportunity if you let us have our own sanfl team”

What a surprise!!!
