Does Olsen have the onions to tap Ruccuito on the shoulder? The bloke isn't bright enough to read the tea leaves.

The Bedge wrote:I think people are forgetting - this was a snippet taken out of an autobiography. The life story of Eddie Betts - from childhood, to AFL, to kicking goals, to the birth of his kids - and yes the camp.

It's not like he's come out and decided to rag on the camp and the club out of the blue. The people responsible for bringing this up are the media, who are choosing to highlight one aspect of the book, one part of an amazing, truly inspiring story of a proud black man when there are so many great stories about Eddie Betts to report on.

Yes of course the camp was bad obviously, and of course Adel handled this poorly - but the commentary around Betts getting over it, or non-indigenous players not bringing it up, or that he had his chance to talk about it etc are ******* stupid.

The whole focus should be on his book release and the story of his life - the barriers he overcame and broke down, and the pathway he's forged for the next generation of Aboriginal people,, but no, that doesn't generate enough hatred and vitriol for the media to worry about.

My understanding is this was an extract given to The Age to promote the launch of his book. It was more than likely calculated to garner as much attention as he could muster in order to promote sales.

All they talked about was the camp like it was the only chapter in the book.
Eddie himself had to several times say hey its only one chapter in the book.
But Robbo had to keep going over old ground. Like he was trying to get him to cry.(ratings driven)
I wanted to hear something enlightening about his transition from being a naughty little boy to being a genuine star.

I'm really wish the media would do what their actual job is
Report on the actual game and leave the offield stuff alone.

700 accredited media, that's almost 1 per player.
All of them career climbing, hoping for that big scoop.
Hounding players constantly, contributes to poor mental health, which in turn means they play shit footy.
I want to see the best at their best!

It was good of Eddie to say, hopefully everyone can now stop talking about it and move on

What possible outcomes can AFLPA implement after their new investigation into the camp?

Maybe reviewing the way they themselves launch investigations. Their response is simply laughable. They purely are reacting to the greater public outcry from the media who are having a field day. If they honestly didn’t know after doing their own investigations then they should be taking a hike.

As years pass arnd there are more retirees there will be more anecdotal evidence coming out.

How much relief would Eddie have now getting it off of his chest, you didn't have to be Einstein to work out that the camp heavily affected him, probably moreso than anyone else.

I am even more proud of him than before and have the utmost respect for him as a player and far more importantly, as a person.

Ohh no, they’re just not releasing a book, yeah right got it.

Eddie last night was at pains to say that this happened to non-indigenous players also, especially critical of the AFL statement which indicated it was only the indigenous players.

"The AFL acknowledges the hurt Eddie Betts, his family, his community, and by extension all Indigenous players experienced as a result of Adelaide Crows' pre-season camp in 2018"

The whole "move on" commentary is completely cringeworthy, if all we do is move on we never learn and get better - and also guarantee the same mistakes will happen again.

Surprised there has been not comment from Olsen yet, surely he is the one that needs to come out strongly, not Silvers.

Not sure how it will get done but I think Adelaide have two first round picks this year?

Rankine- First round plus Crouch?

Georgiadis-first round

Himmelberg we’ll get a big of Smuth Cheese and Onion chips.

Maybe he wants to go? Not sure just heard the rumour a few times. Maybe being dropped a couple of times had people thinking with no basis?

So a pick (prob 4 at worst) and Crouch who some say should be getting games for someone who can walk out of GC for nothing is side splitting is it? I would not think so.
