Hawks a goal up atm, would take a bit of gloss off the Carton v Collingwood game if the Bulldogs lose.

Was never in doubt, he was informed last week hence the tears in the change room last night after the game.
He simply couldn’t go on.

It's a bit sad, Truck seems like a good guy.
Hope he picks up a decent job somewhere else.

I pity the next guy that gets the job.

Only watching the footy without sound at the pub but I assume there's a bit of a breeze in Launceston looking at that goal of Gunstons that moved like a Boomerang?

Negotiated pay out so won’t be the full $600k
At the end of the day I think he is miles out of his depth. Some people aren’t cut out to be head coaches. I hope he has a good career as a assistant and have no ill will towards him.
The new coach will need other changes to take place first though

Doubtful.
I think we need a experienced coach with a hard nosed approach but I think Lyon is happy in the media

He was supposed to be the man after Worsfold. Worsfold came into help you get through the shit you created for yourselves and you treated him like shit towards the end and it was always Rutten is the man, get Worsfold out.

I wish I had the patience to go back through your posts with some of this stuff.
Now it's Rutten's turn, and same thing.

The way Essendon have gone about this is terrible. Honestly it's a Muppet organisation and what serious coach would look at that position and see what has gone on and say gee give me some of that.

Christ we all know Simpson is down over at West Coast and we certainly aren't carrying on the way Essendon has been. And look at the debacle our list is in.

Christ we all know Simpson is down over at West Coast and we certainly aren't carrying on the way Essendon has been. And look at the debacle our list is in.[/quote]Worsfold was the right man at the time even though most Essendon supporters don’t agree. He was exactly what we needed at the time as the club was at its lowest point and we needed more of a “friend” than a coach at that point of time and someone who could help heal the club. I always maintained his coaching was pretty average and had high hopes for Rutten. I was more than happy when Rutten was announced, he had done some good work at Richmond and had the succession plan under Worsfold meant that he deserved his chance. I honestly don’t know if succession plans work or not but there was talk at the time we blinked on Rutten due to the Crows having interest in him. I don’t dislike Rutten and had wished it had worked out but defensively we are worse than when he started. It’s the same thing regularly, we leak goals out the back and push up too high and we lead the comp in coast to coast goals and red time scores. At some point during his time ( he has had 3 full years) I would have thought we may just have structured up so that we stop the same things happening now as they were two and three years ago. I don’t care if we flooded or kept loose men in defence and make teams grind out results but doing the same thing week after week is madness.
Now Ben is not entirely at fault as we have a poor board and other key components such as list management and fitness but the things that he does control for one reason or another hasn’t worked. I’m actually sad that Ben is going but I can why it had to happen. My fear is we will do the same again and not go through a proper process of choosing a coach. Hopefully the board spill eventuates and even if we have to bottom right out it’s better than what we have now
