Elimination Final - Glenelg v Sturt

Postby Wedgie » Sun Aug 21, 2022 1:00 pm

12.15pm Sunday 28th August @ Adelaide Oval

Bays coming off a close win against the Dogs at home and Sturt coming off a great 22 point win against the Minor Premiers at Unley.
Ironically the two in form teams of the finals being the only teams coming off a win!
Winner should be flag fav.
Which team will be more suited by the larger oval and better surface?

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Beaten them twice, at Unley from about seven goals behind, and at Glenelg dominated from start to finish. That said, it now seems to be a case of which Glenelg shows up; our best can beat anyone, our worst can be beaten by anyone. Glenelg by 11 points, but heart might be ruling head here.
No Surrender!

Think last week was his first reserves game for Sturt. Wonder why they dropped him?

He's never looked fit (as a few top players don't) but I've always rated him, can read the play very well and looked the goods up front when I've seen him.
Would be a big get of another club picked him up IMHO. (Or a dominant player in ammos/country)

Not sure any other SANFL would be prepared to take him. He was very fortunate that Sturt took him and I will suggest that they ignored or did not believe what was being said about him. Perhaps they are finding out now. Not one person has suggested that he was dropped due to form.

I rate his football ability highly and on his day is a very versatile matchwinner.

Unfortunately he and South had to part ways or we would have lost all bar two of the league squad.

Fair call, a shame as such a waste of talent.

Sure is. I watched him against Adelaide 5 or so weeks ago, booted 6 and treated Borlace and ?? (sorry) like they were little boys. When he stops playing footy he will have his own postcode.

Back to the game.

I have no idea why Glenelg's form has dropped off so badly. I am half expecting them to come good for four quarters. They seem to dominate a quarter here and there but unable to sustain it.

Sturt have had some good wins of late but also lost to South and the Eagles. Glenelg have beaten Sturt both times this year and I expect that to continue.

Glenelg by 3 goals.

Yeah besides when the Bays smashed the Eagles early they have looked ordinary lately, I was very disappointed with their game against North.
With only the 4th and 5th side coming off a win and with the games all at AO it might be a real guessing game with the finals series.
I too will go for the Bays to bounce back and use their experience if the last few years playing a few finals.
Glenelg by 23 points.
